Why Autumn is the BEST Season

Are you one of those "oh my gosh summer is ending and I think I might just die" types? Well I'm here to tell you exactly why and how Autumn is the best season there is.

Why Autumn is the BEST Season

The weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter, trees are starting to pop with fluorescent red and orange tones, and that can only mean one thing: Autumn is here. Now, there is absolutely no need to get upset and wallow in the fact that summer '19 is over. I'll admit, it was a good one, but the best time of the year just so happens to be the next 3 months that follow, and here's why:

1. Sweater Weather

Who doesn't love wearing a cozy sweater on cold fall days? Whether it's wearing one to a football game, a bonfire, chilling at home or going out, sweaters are perfect for every occasion in autumn.

2. Rainy Days

Okay I must admit, this is one of my favorite things about autumn. The cold weather plus the rain is a match made in heaven. Not to mention, you can totally use this as an excuse to stay in bed all day and fatten yourself up on hearty comfort foods.

3. Binge-watching

Okay get this: cold temps, rainy weather, warm food, and cozy sweaters is a MUST-HAVE for binge-watching! That's the perfect combination for having one of the laziest days you can ever imagine. Honestly, I'll have lazy days all autumn because why not?

4. Spooky Season

Halloween, pumpkin carving, haunted houses, and scary movies, I mean what is there not to love? This is the one time of year where you can be whoever and whatever you want to be without the hassle of conforming to society, EMBRACE IT! Also, who doesn't love a good scare to get your adrenaline pumping?

5. Thanksgiving

Now THIS is the most wonderful time of the year! All-you-can-eat food, family, and friends, what can get better than that? This is the time where you and all your favorite people are able to catch up and be in each others' presence for the day. However, I think the food is the best and most important part.

6. Reading

For my avid readers, you KNOW autumn months are prime for reading. Sitting in bed or on a window seat, enjoying the tranquility of fall with a cup of hot tea or coffee in your hand as your eyes unlock the doors to unknown worlds is THE definition of a reader's paradise.

7. Bonfires

S'mores, camping, friends, and cool weather. Bonfires are one of the best ways to spend your autumn nights while also still being able to enjoy nature and all it has to offer, without the pesky bugs.

8. Autumn Flavored Food and Drinks

Pumpkin spice and apple flavored food and drinks are why autumn thrives. Regardless if you are more of a pumpkin spice latte person or an apple cider person, you can't dismiss the fact that everything smells oh-so wonderful. As soon as these food and drink items hit menus, you know that the best season is near.

9. Fluorescent Colors

Who knew death could be so beautiful? Even though autumn signifies the end of a life cycle, the colors it produces are just breathtaking. Autumn really makes you appreciate the true beauty of nature and what a work of art it truly is.

10. Change

All good things must come to an end, but that end doesn't have to be ugly, it can be beautiful in the most unexpected ways. Autumn is the season of reflection and allows you to change whatever it is that is holding you back. You can transform into the person you always wanted to be or you can allow yourself to let go of the people or things that do nothing but harm to you. It's the season of soul searching and that is what truly makes autumn beautiful.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
