Putting on a warm sweater with leather boots and watching the leaves change is a beautiful thing. When I'm walking in the cool breeze with a hot beverage in hand, I tend to look up at the sky. I remind myself I'm lucky to be here and fight for my voice to be heard.
Usually, during the fall, I would have bad memories associated with the season, but ever since I started college, that all changed. Those memories are now associated with good memories.
Now, I have the chance to experience what apple picking is like, smell all of the pumpkin scents, and drink apple cider. Sure, it might seem basic but I never went apple picking before or even been to a haunted house.
Halloween was my least favorite holiday because scary movies and costumes have always scared me. But, if I was bolder than I am, I would definitely watch the movie IT.
Funny, I can watch crime shows and documentaries, but I rule out scary movies.
My heart beats for fall and I even have a list I would love to do during fall. For example, I want to go to a pumpkin patch, go apple picking, take pictures, go to a Halloween party, and read a book in front of a fireplace.
Haven't discovered a place to call my own that has a fireplace, but Bloom Bakery in Public Square has one.
You could read a book, take photos or even take a date there.
Thanksgiving and Black Friday are my favorite holidays. I don't have a lot of relatives around Ohio but whenever I hang out with my cousin and her family, we always have a meal together. It's like two families are combining even though we see each other almost every week.
There's a warm and thankful feeling in the air that I can't quite translate for them. It's really nice, and we spend most of the day indoors together or we also drive around town.
Black Friday is one of the craziest holidays I've ever encountered. People line up to buy clothes, technologies, and even beauty supplies because it's at a lower cost than usual.
Some people might argue that Black Friday is nothing but a "cash cow," meaning, it's more of an economic value and it only decreases prices to increase the number of sales. It might also take away the importance of Thanksgiving because it's meant for family time.
I would agree, but those are one of the few days my family and relatives actually come together for a whole day to hang out while shopping to satisfy their needs. It's a bonding experience for us.
Family bondings are only one of the reasons why fall means a lot to me.
There are many obstacles I've faced during the fall. A couple years ago, I went to therapy and it helped my anxiety and depression. I've interviewed someone for the first time and because of that, I've become a little more comfortable with it. I also practiced my writing skills outside of college as well.
I've faced a lot of fears, gained more clothing pieces I adored, and when the cold wind hits my face when I walk outside, I automatically smile and thank the sky that I'm alive.
