As the weather cools down, you'll no longer find a packed Drillfield with Enos and sunbathers. Blacksburg is a small town so it may sometimes be difficult to find fun things to do around town once the weather gets to be a bit chilly.

So, here are 14 activities to do even when the air starts to get a bit crisper.

Go to the grocery store and buy ingredients to actually bake

You could even go basic and get the ghost or pumpkin break apart sugar cookies.

Stay in with Netflix and some warm apple cider

You could even watch a fall themed movie such as Halloween Town or Hocus Pocus to make sure that you get into the spooky season.

Go to Sinkland Farms

This is perfect for getting that perfect pumpkin to carve.

Visit the Roanoke Star

You can even get one at Sinkland Farms or the local Kroger.

Celebrate Halloween

Go to a pumpkin patch, dress up & party, or just hand out candy. Regardless of the way you choose to celebrate, make sure you do something that you'll remember for this Spooky Holiday.

Go hiking

There are tons of great hiking spots close by like McAfee's knob and the Cascades. You get to see all of the leaves changing into the different beautiful colors and you won't die of heat exhaustion on your way up, or down, the trial.

Go on a walk/run around campus

Hokie Stone is great in the fall and you can breathe in the crisp, cool air.

Go to Blacksburg's Farmer's Market

There will be tons of local vendors every Wednesday and Saturday. Check out their website for times and date changes for the coming months!

Go to the Gallows

Go if you dare.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
