It's that time of year again! There's a slight chill in the air, the leaves are just starting to change, meaning only one thing: Fall is finally here. While September in the midwest is notorious for its ever-changing temperatures and unreliable weather forecasts, autumn-lovers like me are already in full fall mode, complete with all of our favorite fall things.

In the spirit of celebrating my favorite season, here are five things I am looking forward to most now that fall is finally here.

1. Sweater weather

I can't be the only one that's been praying for the summer heat to finally end. While warm, sunny days are the perfect way to spend the summer months, cool autumn days are what I look forward to most once September hits. Cozy sweaters and knit cardigans become my go-to outfit staples, whether I'm venturing out or having a chill day at home.

2. Pumpkin spiced lattes and apple cider donuts

Pumpkin spice latte lovers rejoice! Our favorite drink is finally back and just in time for those chilly autumn mornings. Pair that with an apple cider donut from your local apple orchard, and you've got yourself the perfect fall food combination.

3. Apple orchards

From pumpkins to donuts to apples, of course, apple orchard trips are the epitome of autumn activities. With the beautiful fall foliage and a heavy bag of apples at your side, you're sure to have an amazing day with plenty to do and even more treats to bring home when it's over.

4. Harry Potter, Twilight, and Hallmark movie marathons

These movies just radiate fall energy. Don't ask me why I'm just telling you that they do. So whether it's a supernatural love-triangle, an adventure to Hogwarts, or a light-hearted romance, these movies are perfect for a cozy night in.

Other acceptable options to achieve that wonderful fall feeling include Gilmore Girls, Virgin River, and Halloween movies of any kind.

Last but not least, we have, perhaps, the most important thing of all: the beautiful red and orange foliage that will soon bless us all. Just hearing the crunch of leaves under my boots gives me a major rush of serotonin, and there truly is nothing better than when those colors reach their peak.

Fall always tends to leave just as quick as it comes, so I've learned to savor every brisk morning and rainy afternoon. Despite its fleeting nature, fall will always be dear to me, and I'm so excited to enjoy everything that makes it so special all over again.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
