"Friends." It has been fourteen years since we watched the last episode, and twenty-four since we (some of us) watched it for the first time. "Friends" is everywhere: on national TV, in memes, in Netflix, in DVDs; let's face it; it is part of our lives.
I am a huge fan of the show. I feel I am able to recite each episode by memory even the dialogs. As a fan, I am expecting a reboot soon; TV shows coming back is the trend now, and "Friends" should be on TV now.
While we are waiting for the good news, I have some errors I want to share, and I hope they will amend in the revival (yes, I truly believe it will be a reboot).
1. Phoebe’s family.
Friends
I start with my biggest concern: Phoebe's family.
Grandmother. Phoebe lives with her grandmother five seasons. We only see her once. It is weird the grandma does not show up in the biggest moments in Phoebe's life: when she meets her brother Frank Jr. (Frank Jr spends a weekend in Phoebe's apartment, and the grandma is not there; come on! It is grandma's home), when Phoebe discovers her biological mom is alive, and when Phoebe makes the decision to carry her brother's triples, the pregnancy and the birth (at the end of season four that Rachel is in charge of taking care of Phoebe when the others are in London; where is the grandma? They live together in that time).
I think if two people live together, they should share these important kinds of stuff. My other question to the grandmother is how she let Phoebe live in the streets when she was a teenager. That is a no, no, no.
Biological mother. Just as quickly she appears in the story, she disappears. This character does not make any sense.
The father. Phoebe spends five seasons looking for her dad. Finally, she meets him; then, nothing. The story finishes. There are no more daddy issues there. I feel I wasted my time with Phoebe's dad.
The bother and the triplets. Frank Jr is a good character, and his story makes sense; however, we stop seeing him after the triplets. I think we could have more episodes with him and the triplets. I want to watch the triplets in the reboot.
(No, I don't have anything to say about Ursula; I think she is perfect how she is).
2. The chicken and the duck.
Friends
The chicken and the duck are an important part in the lives of Chandler and Joey. When Chandler moves in with Monica and Rachel with Joey, they disappear. I can understand they passed, but it was so abrupt how they leave. They deserved a better ending.
3. Waitress Rachel.
Friends
I can understand Rachel has to take the job in Central Perk at the beginning of the show. She is starting a new life without daddy's money. However, I don't understand why she takes to long to try to get a new job. In the episodes, we see she went to college; she has a degree. She did not need to spend three years in a job she did not like.
4. Ben Geller.
Friends
5. Rachel and Joey's love story.
Friends
I hated this story. It does not make sense. They were friends; they should have been just friends. This story makes Joey looks like a bad friend and Rachel as a bitch. Their romantic story was the worst idea ever.
6. Emily is not a bitch.
Friends
In the show, they wanted us to think Emily was a bitch, but she wasn't. Emily was a good girlfriend; her wedding was destroyed by Rachel. Ross practically harasses her, and she did not go to the police. Emily gives Ross a chance (which it is more than what he deserves); she is only asking to have Rachel out of her life, which totally makes sense. The crazy person in this story is not Emily. #TeamEmily.
7. Monica and Richard’s son.
Friends
Come on Monica! Richard is the love of your life (at least until season four), and you go a kiss his son. It is discussing; I don't see the funny part there.
8. Marcel.
Friends
Who had the idea of including a monkey in Ross life? He is an adult who is going to be a father. Why he has this complicated relationship with a monkey? I think it is Ross's worst moment (yes, worse than cheating Rachel).
9. Rachel's favorite apartment.
Friends
In season four, Monica, Rachel, Joey and Chandler switch apartments (I love that episode). Rachel is really unhappy in the new apartment. She only complains about the boy's place. However, two seasons later, when she moves to live with Joey, she loves it. Who understands Rachel?
10. Monica and Joey love story.
Friends
In season five, Chandler and Monica are hiding their love. Joey becomes an accomplice. At some point, the strategy is to say that Joey and Monica had a sexual encounter in London. People believe it, but nobody talks about it anymore. The situation is too huge to forget it.
I know this list shows how nerdy I am about "Friends." If you know any error to add, share it with me.
