Nearing the End Of The Semester

Wow, what a semester this one has been. A lot of ups and downs, ranging from personal life to academic life. I can definitely say that this semester was one that I learned a lot about myself and in terms of academics. When specifically talking about academics and workload, this has been one of my most difficult semesters. In addition to the workload in all my classes, the number of tests and projects given was much more than I can handle. Honestly, I spent most of this semester in the library studying to keep my grades up, not even to get the highest A, but to maintain a decent grade point average. Through many nights at the library and just presenting projects or studying for the insane amount of tests, I have learned so much, but my brain is definitely ready for a break. Unfortunately, winter break only lasts one month, but we need to make the most out of that one, short month.

Just because the semester is nearing the end, doesn't mean that it is the time to slack off. Surprisingly, it is the time to try your hardest and push through. As much as I want to just drop everything, I realize that I would have put in all this effort for nothing. So, I am diligently putting in all my effort to my homework, projects and studying for tests. I know that the end is near, less than one month, and I am free for a well needed and deserved break. So, don't give up just yet.

Also, when you are feeling down and stressed out with all the deadlines, just as I am currently, I just think of the break that is coming. I am so excited and stoked to have one month to just lay on my bed and do absolutely nothing. Some people may think that is boring, but that is a break for me. After constantly getting up every day, going to class, finishing up homework, studying for the next class, I just want a time where I have nothing on my plate, and that time is definitely winter break.

Over the break, catch up with your old friends that you haven't talked to in a while, connect back with your family, and do something fun to take your mind off of school and the past semester. To your surprise, one month of disconnection from school can benefit you more than you think. Letting go of your responsibilities for one month and just living in the present is one thing that college students need every year.

What I can say to college students right now is, the end is near, so keep moving forward and pushing through and don't give up. We have all put in so much effort and time to this difficult semester and we cannot let our efforts go to waste. Together, let's push through and finish this one long, wild journey of a semester.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
