7 Emotions Everyone Feels Leaving College For The Summer

I am feeling pretty bittersweet about leaving college and I have a lot of emotions. I'm so excited for the summer, but the thought of leaving my roommate makes me really sad. It's hard to come up with just one word that describes how I feel about it. I've come to really love my college friends and school and it's gonna be weird not seeing them for a whole four months.

I'll try to sum up how I feel through some gifs because that's the only way millennial/gen x cusps know how to:

1. Relieved finals is over

It honestly feels amazing to be done with all of your work, whether you feel confident or not, you can finally relax and be done with the tests and papers and class... it's a great feeling.

2. Excited for summer vacay

After all the hard work you've done this semester, you deserve a vacation. I'm going to Ireland and I couldn't be more excited. Sunshine, the beach, family vacations, it's gonna be a blast!

3. You can't wait to reunite with your friends from home

It is going to be so fun to share stories about your wild nights at college, catch each other up on your friends from school, hang out at your favorite places again... high school friends just get you on a different level, reconnecting will be amazing.

4. You're really sad to leave your friends from college

You've created some amazing friendships. It's going to be weird to live without a roommate, to literally walk down the stairs and be with your friends. The thing with friendships in college is that you literally see them all the time because you practically live with them. There's a unique bond there, you'll miss it more than you thought.

5. Packing and then unpacking is gonna suck

Trying to pack up your entire life without your parents and being ready for them by the time they get there; its so stressful. THEN you have to unpack when you get back, it's like the madness never ends!

6. You can't wait for a reunion with your bed

Bye Bye to the twin bed! Back to being able to sprawl your whole body across the mattress and feel totally comfortable. Back to regular temperatures and your piles of pillows.

7. Missing your beautiful campus

Your hometown is nice and all, but at least for me, I'm going to miss the amazing views at my school. Living on a hill by a lake and with a cute downtown area was sooooo fun. Plus there's just something special about your campus - you grow attached to it.

Have a wonderful summer despite the rollercoaster of emotions you might be feeling due to leaving!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
