Featuring a lot of blue.

Ed Sheeran Is Back
Ed Sheeran

My week was made by a ginger tweeting a blue square. If you’re confused, as I assume many of you are, Ed Sheeran tweeted a picture of a light blue square on twitter. With that explanation, there’s a possibility that you’re even more confused. Totally understandable. Well, let me go into a bit more detail. Last year, on the 13th of December at precisely 12:29 a.m., Ed tweeted an Instagram link which lead to a post saying he’s taking a break from all social media to take time to travel and see everything he’s missed and he would be back in a year. Little did everyone know that he literally meant one year on the dot.

He tweeted this wonderful little blue square on December 13, 2016 at 12:29am. One year to the minute that he said he was taking a break for a year. My excitement, along with the 119,000 people who have retweeted and 265,000 who have favorited his tweet, is through the roof. The funny thing is, we’re all so excited for something we have no idea what it means. Does the blue square mean his new song or album is called “blue?” Or does he simply just like that color? As of December 15th, it’s all a mystery. But, it’s a mystery I am so ready for.

With that being said, I’d like to share a few of my favorite lyrics, tattoos, interview moments...basically just a few of the many, many amazing things Ed Sheeran has done.

I can’t even begin to put into words how many times I’ve cried while listening to Ed’s songs or laughed until I was out of breathe when I finally understood what the lyric actually meant in “You Need Me (I Don’t Need You)” where he’s singing about being an up-and-coming artist and using metaphors and...you just have to listen to it.

Anyway, here are my personal favorite Ed Lyrics.

  1. “Tell her that she turns my cheeks the color of my hair.” -One Night
  2. “My chest is a pillow for your weary head to lay to rest again. Your body is my ballpoint pen, and your mind is my new best friend. - Grade 8
  3. “If you’re broken I will mend you, and I’ll keep you sheltered from the storm that’s raging on now.” -Lego House
  4. “See… I could do without a tan on my left hand where my fourth finger meets my knuckle.” -Wake Me Up
  5. “Should this be the last thing I see, I want you to know it’s enough for me. Cause all that you are is all that I’ll ever need.” - Tenerife Sea
  6. “I’m a singer that you never want to see shirtless and I accept the fact that someone’s got to win worst dressed.” -Take It Back
  7. “When salted tears won’t dry, I’ll wipe my shirtsleeves under your eyes.” -Shirtsleeves
  8. Every single lyric of “Everything You Are” and “Friends.”
  9. Every single lyric, note, melody of "All Of The Stars."

Now, let's take a moment to admire his tattoos.

A ketchup tattoo. Does it get any better than that?

Yes, yes it does.

The fresh prince.

Last, but not least... Let's talk about his amazing interview moments.

Cheeky.

That is a false statement, Sheeran.

Who has two thumbs and does all of the above? This girl.

This is where I slowly clap and nod my head.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
