It has become extremely hard to not let the opinions of others affect me. I completely let it bother me because I value how people perceive me. This is something I'm trying to work on. Because, like how my mother says, "At the end of the day, you don't have to go home with them."
This means, that other people aren't worth your time for whatever reason. Fighting or even facing people, will just cause tension at work or school, that you will later regret.
Usually, what we forget, is when a person attacks you (verbally), whether it is indirect or directly to your face---- it most likely has nothing to do with you. The problem lies within the other person and they feel better by hurting someone who is vulnerable. I don't mean "vulnerable" as weak, but more that you leave yourself open and allow people to do this.
Let's say, there is a rumor, or someone talks about you in a negative way without really knowing who you are. You may be "friends" and you are unaware of what is going on. This person paints an ugly picture of you and suddenly you become really insecure and wonder…"Do other people see me this way?"
Dozens of questions race through your mind, and you really start to question yourself.
This is where I ask you to STOP.
Stop right there.
Don't let other people decide who you are. Who cares what they think?
You know who you are. Your FRIENDS know who you are. And if anyone starts to believe this painted picture...then sorry to tell you, but they're not your friends.
Let people say what they want. Let them judge you. But don't let that stop you from living your best life. Embrace who you are and ignore the haters.
This is just a small reminder...as I usually have to write… for myself and for anyone else feeling like the opinion of others is of higher value than the opinion you hold for yourself.
Your opinion matters the most because you have to live with yourself.
Never forget that.
