*Sigh* I knew I had to write about this. On December 18th, 2019, President Donald Trump was the third president to be impeached in U.S. history. The two articles of impeachment were abuse of power and obstructing Congress. The articles received overwhelming votes from the Democrats, hence the impeachment. With him being impeached, it must be over for President Trump, right?
Well, he's just getting started!
But I thought Impeachment meant removal from office?
Didn’t you pay attention in your U.S. History class? Impeachment is defined as to charge (a public official) before a competent tribunal with misconduct in office. Nowhere does it read removal. If a removal were to take place, then a 2/3 supermajority vote from the Senate and trial would have to take place. Let's be honest here, the vote and trial won't take place because you want to know why? The Senate is overwhelming Republican and said that they were going to acquit him in the early January trial.
What was President doing during this historic moment in history? He was attending a rally of his in Battle Creek, MI. He told the crowd of loyal supporters, "It doesn't really feel like we're being impeached. The country is doing better than ever before. We did nothing wrong. And we have tremendous support in the Republican Party like we ave never had before. Nobody has ever had this kind of support."
What the Democrats don't understand about Donald Trump is that he has that ”I don't care” attitude. Do you think that he cares about the whole impeachment sham? No, he doesn't! He has an economy to fix and a wall to build, he doesn't have time for nonsense!
With a high job approval rating and opposition to impeachment up, the Democrats just handed Trump his 2020 victory. They thought that impeachment would destroy his presidency and that he would get removed. Boy are they wrong! What this impeachment done is that it made Trump’s base stronger than before and that strong feeling will carry on to the ballot box. So thanks Democrats for giving Trump his 2020 landslide!
