Your Ponytail Can Change a Woman's Life

Why You Should Donate Your Hair To Pantene Beautiful Lengths

I recently cut my hair to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. I never thought I'd do this as I am not the biggest fan of haircuts- I loved my long hair and hadn't gotten a cut in a really long time. Just a few days prior to making the big cut, I told my mom I was getting two inches cut off. That two turned into ten, and now my hair has been mailed out to make a change in someone's life!

Pantene Beautiful Lengths works alongside the American Cancer Society to provide real-hair wigs to women with cancer for free, and all you have to do to help create a wig is send in your ponytail. It takes anywhere between eight to fifteen ponytails to make one wig. To date, about 800,000 ponytails have been donated, which have created 42,000 wigs!

Instructions and requirements for the donated hair include a ponytail measuring minimum of eight inches, not having dyed, bleached or chemically treated hair and not having more than 5% grey hair. Detailed instructions on how to make the cut should be followed in order to make sure that your ponytail is eligible to be transformed into a wig.

Once you've cut off the hair, mail it to the following address:
Pantene Beautiful Lengths
Attn: 192-123
806 SE 18th Ave.
Grand Rapids, MN 55744

Your ponytail, along with seven to fourteen others, will be processed and dyed to make one wig. Here is one Beautiful Lengths Story:

Did you donate hair to Beautiful Lengths? Post a ponytail pic or a before-and-after on social media and tag @Pantene and use #8or8 and #BeautifulLengths. If you don't quite meet the requirements or if cutting your hair isn't your thing, you can give a monetary donation to Beautiful Lengths to sponsor a wig. If you think you may be eligible to receive a wig, call the American Cancer Society’s Wig Bank Line at: 1-877-227-1596.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
