Beauty can be so expensive. From makeup to skin products, I had to learn very quickly how to ball on my budget. Here are a few things I learned when it comes to beauty and money.

1. Cheap face masks!

There are so many face mask out that are very helpful but can also be so expensive, so I started to make my own. I love to do honey face mask which help with moisturizing the face. I always do the normal cumber on eyes to help with my dark circles.

I also found a really cheap but effective face mask brand at Target. They are called "Que Bella" and they make so many different kinds of face masks for different types of skin and I love them. Like I mentioned they are really cheap but get the job done.

2. DIY hair masks!

So instead of going out and buying a hair mask from a store, you can simply make your own. I recommend aloe vera plant because it moisturizes hair and helps promote hair growth. All you have to do is cut the plant into sections, use some and save some for later, then I section my wet hair, spread the aloe vera gel on my hair, cover with either a plastic cap or plastic bag, let sit for 20 mins, and ta-da! You just did a cheap but VERY helpful hair mask.

3. Sip your tea!

Giphy

I feel like a lot of people don't know this but green tea needs to become your bestie. It really helps with detoxing the body, helps with gaining a natural glow, helps reduce dark circles under eyes, and has also been known as a fat burner. Now, I have to add in that drinking water should also be in your daily routine.

Drinking a glass of water as soon as you wake up helps with waking the body up and overall is just a great start to your day. So why go out and buy a detox for $100 when you can simply make your own at home.

4. Understand prices...

Giphy

Make sure you understand that you do not have to buy $100 products. Literally, if you go on YouTube and search "drugstore products" so many different things will pop up and will show you very cheap makeup, hair, skin, etc.. products. Just because someone else has that $60 foundation doesn't mean that your $20 foundation won't get the job done. Sometimes drugstore products are better than common named brand products.

5. PUFF PUFF BYE

Giphy

Another really helpful hack that you have probably heard before is putting a spoon in the freezer or refrigerator and then in the morning just put over your eyes. This will help bring down the puffiness of eyes that some have when we wake up.

6. DIY acrylics...

Giphy

So I learned of an easy way of doing my own acrylic nails at home. Literally just search "at home acrylic nails" on YouTube and so many videos will pop up on how to it your own nails. They sell cheap nails kits at Sally's. Trust me you'll save money doing it yourself.

7. Coconut and Jojoba oil are your friends!

Giphy

Coconut and Jojoba oil are so important. Growing hair doesn't really cost anything but this is just an easy hack I wanted to mention. Coconut and Jojoba oil really help with growth. For example, I really like to apply either one of these oils to my eyebrows to help my eyebrows grow. But you can put these oils anywhere, edges, eyebrows, etc.. and eventually results will be shown.

8. Make your own beauty supplies!

Giphy

So this one is really easy if you ever run out of something such as eyeliner you can use mascara as your eyeliner. Just take some sort of winged brush, apply the mascara to the brush and apply eyeliner to where you desire. This also applies to eyeshadow. For example, if you run out of highlight, just use eyeshadow and it works just the same as highlight.

9. HEY COUPONS

Giphy

Okay lets be real coupons are so helpful! So many people I know look at coupons like its such a bad thing...SIS put that ego aside and start cutting them coupons out or else you're going to miss out. The makeup store Ulta sends out coupons and deals all the time...USE THEM! It's going to help.

10. Have confidence!

Giphy

I know I say this a lot, but I truly believe that confidence is something that cost nothing and is literally the best kind of beauty hack you can have. When you have confidence, everything else on you just comes together. I know sometimes we forget how to carry ourselves, but I promise when you walk with your head held high, and shoulders back that's beauty right there.

As you can see there are so many different beauty hacks that are helpful and cheap. Like I always say beauty doesn't have to be stressful especially when you're balling on a budget.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
