Say she's for teens, say she's an addict, say she's got more baggage than most stars her age, but regardless, Demi Lovato keeps proving time and time again that she's a force to be reckoned with.
If you haven't already seen Demi's YouTube Documentary, "Simply Complicated," I highly suggest it. You can watch it here, or just look up what happened in the hour and twenty-minute interview. While I am biased, I've always rooted for her, been a fan, and am a fan of any celebrity news, I have to say that it's so raw and uplifting.
Demi is honest about what she's been through. She's authentically herself throughout the entire interview and she tells real stories - as do others who were with her during her hard times and now, her good times. She talks about trying cocaine, she talks about getting drunk and vomiting on her way to a show, she talks about living a lie after her first rehab stint, and she even talks about punching a back up dancer in the face during one of her lows.
Demi shows where she is at right now and talks about her dating life and shows samples of her new album throughout. Watching her record parts of her new music is incredible, as you see the hard work and dedication it takes to piece together her artwork. Ultimately, it's such an open look into a super star's life, and I think it's something that more people need to consider.
Besides her voice being a powerhouse in itself, you see more into her life when she was growing up. You hear stories from her sisters, her mom, and some friends. You hear the behind-the-glam side of who she was, is, and is still growing to be. She talks about how her struggles aren't over just because she has overcome them so far. She is still battling and will continue to do so the rest of her life, but her struggles and battles aren't who she is.
Demi may be known for being a teenage addict, for entering rehab, and for having an eating disorder. Some say she is known for being a derailed Disney star, but regardless, she is also known for sharing her story. She is talking about her problems and how she takes care of herself. She doesn't hold much back in her music or in interviews, and it's inspiring.
Demi Lovato should be known for being an incredible artist. She's writing her story like the rest of us, every single day. Some days are better than others, but at least she's not acting like everything is perfect. She should be known for having one of the most powerful voices of today's superstars. She should be known for inspiring others, for being a role model, and for helping this generation speak out when they are facing problems.
Demi Lovato's documentary, "Simply Complicated," isn't about her past, but it shows that having a past doesn't mean you can't have a future. She is an inspiration and if she keeps up the hard work, will continue to thrive.
