Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a person who plays a lot of video games. Generally speaking, I am really bad at them.
This is for a number of reasons, and I'll list some for you right now. The buttons on the controllers vary from system to system. Your friend may have a different system than you do, so then you can't play with them. And some of the games require a lot of skill that I'm not familiar with, most namely Call of Duty or shooting games like that. I am pretty good at one game in particular though, and that is Mario Kart 7 for the Wii.
I've been playing it since it first came out for the console and I have gained a lot of skills in that category of gaming. I always play as the same character after testing out many different characters, karts, and bikes. I play as Baby Mario. I love almost every track on the game (except you, Bowser's Castle), so here are my 10 favorite tracks on the game and a little bit on why they're my favorite ones.
1. Koopa Cape
For me, Koopa Cape is the most aesthetically pleasing course on the whole game. It also has well placed powerups that are evenly spread out unlike some of the other courses. I love that a majority of it is underwater and it's also one of the most brightly colored tracks with all of the fish and water scenes.
2. Maple Treeway
Maple Treeway is one of my absolute favorites because of the scenery. Fall is my favorite season and it is the embodiment of fall in a Mario Kart track. It just feels like you're driving on a nice fall day (especially if you're in first), but with the chance of being hit with a spiny blue shell because it's Mario Kart. The Star Cup just has some nice tracks overall.
3. Mushroom Gorge
Mushroom Gorge is one of the easier tracks on the entire game. Compared to other easy tracks, it is one of the harder ones though. That's one of the reasons it is so fun. It poses a challenge, but at least it's an easy challenge. The best part of the whole track are the springy mushrooms that you bounce on to take your character through the course. This course also has several different options of directions to go, unlike most other easy courses.
4. Coconut Mall
Coconut Mall is another extremely easy course on Mario Kart for the Wii. Though it's an easy track, it still is a fun course that poses a few small challenges. The main challenges are the escalators and the part at the end where the cars drive through. If you ride up the wrong side of an escalator, it'll slow you down tremendously. The cars at the end pose a problem because of their ability to just drive into you and that's just quite annoying. It is a very brightly colored track as well and that is really fun,
5. Rainbow Road
Everyone hates Rainbow Road except me.
6. Jungle Parkway
Jungle Parkway is one of the more challenging courses in the game. This is a track that I would suggest riding a bike instead of a kart for. The turns of the track are quite sharp and the entire course is pretty wind-y. Therefore, if you ride in a kart, it'll be much harder to make those turns to be able to win. And winning is important in Mario Kart, of course.
7. Wario's Gold Mine
Ranked among other tracks in the game, Wario's Gold Mine is a medium level track. It's not too easy, but it's also not as difficult as some would say that Rainbow Road is. My favorite parts about this track are the short cuts and the dives down hills without guard rails. Those dives make it much easier to knock other players (when in multiplayer, of course) off of the track and put you ahead of them. It is also a very well designed track compared to others that just go in a plain old circle.
8. Delfino Square
Delfino Square is a fun course that isn't super difficult at all. I love this course because of the scenery, the colors, and all of the shortcuts. It's a fun one to play on multiplayer because you each could be going in different directions because of all of the short cuts. It's also a quick track that you could play in between a couple longer ones like DK Mountain or Rainbow Road.
9. DK Mountain
DK Mountain is a fun track and made my top ten for a few reasons. The first reason is just the fact that there is an animated volcano that could explode at any time. (Well not really, but a Mario Kart fan can dream). My second favorite thing about this course is the challenge that it poses with the falling rocks that come barrelling at you in the middle of the course.
10. Grumble Volcano
Grumble Volcano is another one from the Star Cup, which is obviously my favorite cup. It's a challenging track, but not Rainbow Road level. My favorite parts of this one are the fire ball creatures that hop around trying to burn you and also the fact that the actual road you are driving on gets smaller and smaller as you go because the volcano "grumbles" and pieces of the road fall into the lava.
