Some people like to post things that are not true on the Internet, and it can even be a dark and terrible source of information!. Last weekend there was a post saying that actor Clint Eastwood had died of a heart attack which was not true, but a lot of people believed it. This is just another form of fake news.
Back in 2016, there was a report that actor Jack Black had died. It was posted all over the internet including Twitter, and thousands of people reacted to this because they thought it was true.
Everyone knows that Jack Black is the frontman of Tenacious D, and when these reports came out, they respond a couple of hours later saying that their twitter account had gotten hacked and none of this was true. Jack Black was alive and well.
Nick Jonas has been a victim of the death hoax twice. Back in 2009, one report said he died of cardiac arrest due to complications from his diabetes, and the other one said his heart stopped when he was getting a lap dance at a strip club.
Other celebrities like Celine Dion, Eddie Murphy, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, Alice Cooper, Brittney Spears, and Justin Timberlake, have all been victims of the death hoax. The list is huge! These are just a few people who have been reported dead by these hoaxes.
There is something new to find every day, everything from fake news, hoaxes and toxic conspiracy theories on the Internet. People do it to get a laugh, but others want to cause panic because they think it's fun.
Most of the time if you see news like this on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram and it's not linked to an official news site, always go to google. If it is true, then it will show right on their main page.
People sometimes believe everything they read, and when I first saw the news about Clint Eastwood I thought it was true, so I went to google to make sure, and sure enough, it was all a hoax.
Some of these hoaxes are not just an account getting hacked, some of these can go way too far, including the MOMO hoax last year. These kinds of hoaxes can cause mass hysteria and it even caused kids to hurt themselves - parents and schools where fearful warning of the supposed dangers of games that neither exists and have never been a linked to anyone hurting or killing themselves.
People don't care what they post as long as they can get a reaction out of people because they know people will read them, and it doesn't matter to them if people get hurt.
The thing about society these days is they will believe anything on the Internet or what people tell them. We need to be smarter as a society and do our own research and not believe everything we read.
So until it is reported on a news station, not just a picture, and it's all over the place like google, and on TV, it's not true. Don't believe everything you see and read.
