Dear Millennials, You Have To Be ‘The Coffee Guy’ Before You Can Be The CEO; Don’t Act Like You Are Above It

Do you think Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or even Elon Musk have gotten to where they are without working hard for it? Obviously not. Mark Zuckerberg even started Facebook in his garage. So where did a bunch of millennials get the idea that they do not have to work hard to be successful?

I am a millennial as well. I love our generation. We are future doctors, politicians, and leaders of our world. But sometimes we can be entitled. Yes, I think most of the time we are hard-workers but sometimes we are not

You cannot expect to start working for a larger company for a month and have them hand you a position at the top with no experience. The only way people do this when they create their own companies. You have to work your way up.
Unfortunately, working your way up takes years.

Being 'the coffee guy' or the intern is an important step in our development as human beings. They are stepping stones on our way up to the top. You cannot jump high enough to reach the top without taking a few steps first.

Being handed a CEO position does not make someone a good leader. Most of the world does not get handouts, why should you?

Sit down and ask yourself why you think you are above having to work hard to get what you want. Maybe you will find the root of the problem. It is just like if you have a lot of money and could run for President, should you? Probably not. Unless you are a natural-born leader and have a mind for politics. Not everyone who can be President should be President.

"I'm a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it." – Thomas Jefferson

Luck does not come naturally, as stated by Thomas Jefferson. Luck is a virtue that people obtain by working hard for what they want. Nothing in life is free, so why do we act like we should be handed a high paying, upper management position the second we graduate from college.

In my experience, work ethic is addicting. It is addicting to work hard and see that work pay off. Wake up early, work hard, go to sleep early, and do it all over again the next day. Without effort, there is no chance of reaching a CEO position in a lifetime.

Long story short, get out there and work your ass off. Work until you cannot anymore. You cannot be complacent in sitting around waiting for the position of your dreams to fall into your lap. Blood, sweat, and tears for lack of a better word, is the way to achieve any goals you want. Sitting back and letting it come to you is not.

Own getting coffee for the office. Be the very best you can be at that task so others see your effort and reward you for it with promotions.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
