David Bowie is absolutely, without a doubt, the best artist and musician who ever walked this Earth...(and maybe Mars), and most modern musicians today lack even basic talent and creativity. Many young people today don't even know who David Bowie was. These are, in my opinion, some of the most influential words ever written, (all by Bowie himself, some of the songs were released when he wasn't much older than me.) I think it's very important that the young people today who only listen to Drake and Justin Bieber hear these powerful- thoughtful words and know and understand that this is what music once was.
1. "Planet Earth is blue, and there's nothing I can do." – Space Oddity, 1969

2. "And these children that you spit on, as they try to change their worlds, are immune to your consultations, they're quite aware of what they're going through." – Changes, 1970

3. "Homo sapiens have outgrown their use." – Oh! You Pretty Things, 1970

4. "I'm not a prophet or a stone-aged man, just a mortal with potential of a superman…I'm living on." – Quicksand, 1970

5. "Cause I'd rather stay here, with all the madmen, than perish with the sad men roaming free" – Madmen, 1971

6. "President Joe once had a dream, the world held his hand, gave their pledge, so he told them his scheme for a savior machine. They called it the Prayer, its answer was law, its logic stopped war, gave them food…how they adored till it cried in its boredom…Please don't believe in me, please disagree with me…Life is too easy, a plague seems quite feasible now" – Saviour Machine, 1971

7. "You're face to face with the man who sold the world." – The Man Who Sold the World, 1971

8. "I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlour, drinking milk shakes cold and long, smiling and waving and looking so fine, I don't think you knew you were in this song." – Five Years, 1972 (this whole song is just so powerful and emotional. It tells of a beautiful and tragic story.)

9. "There's a starman waiting in the sky, he'd like to come and meet us, but he thinks he'd blow our minds." – Starman, 1972

10. "Oh no, love, you're not alone, no matter what or who you've been, no matter when or where you've seen…all the knives seem to lacerate your brain, I've had my share, I'll help you with the pain... you're not alone." – Rock 'n Roll Suicide, 1972

11. "Perhaps you're smiling now, smiling through this darkness, but all I had to give was guilt for dreaming." – Time, 1973

12. "Rebel rebel, you've torn your dress, rebel, rebel, you're face is a mess, rebel, rebel, how could they know? Hot tramp! I love you so." – Rebel Rebel, 1974

13. "I've never done good things (I've never done good things), I've never done bad things (I've never done bad things), I never did anything out of the blue." – Ashes to Ashes, 1980

14. "Something happened on the day he died, spirit rose a metre then stepped aside, somebody else took his place, and bravely cried, (I'm a blackstar, I'm a star star, I'm a blackstar)" – Blackstar, 2016
