6 Benefits Of Dating A Girl Who Volunteers

Single guys and gals, listen up.

Volunteering and giving back to my community is one of my favorite hobbies. It's how I have a large number of service hours to date, and one of the main reasons I'm in a service sorority (yes, those exist). It helps you to see things from other's perspectives, and on top of that, it can grant you some wholesome new people in your life because you're all united for one reason: volunteering!

So take it from me, single fellas (and ladies): Girls who volunteer make some of the best girlfriends ever. I advise you to listen up and take notes.

1. They work hard.

Being a woman of service means putting in work. Don't think they're all work and no play, though (although some might be, and that's OK), these girls can manage a balancing act of working hard and setting time aside to have some fun and kick back. Which brings me to my next reason...

2. They have their priorities straight.

No sarcasm here. Let's picture a scenario: A girl comes home from a fun Friday night downtown with her friends and they had a little much to drink, but she has a volunteer event the next morning. Does she stay home to nurse her possible hangover? No, she wakes up at the crack of dawn, gets dressed and goes out to save the world with volunteering. If that's not super admirable, I don't know what is!

3. They're humble.

If you didn't know now, volunteering in your community will humble you real fast. You're exposed to different situations and people with different backgrounds and backstories. And when you volunteer in something like feeding the homeless, it will open your eyes to a new reality and leave you with a new mindset (hopefully).

4. They have hearts of gold.

It's really not every day that you get to meet someone who actually cares about others. A girl who loves to do service is likely passionate about one cause - or more than one. She's very likely to carry that same fiery passion into the relationship!

5. They're not afraid to try new things.

Doing service in your community is amazing because there's something for everyone. While you're bound to find a cause you really love or an event you love to do yearly or weekly, you have endless opportunities to try out new events! A girl who volunteers will push you to get out there and expand your horizons. You can even make cute little dates out of it!

6. They're loyal AF.

And no, I'm not exaggerating! Girls who do service are bound to be the most loyal girlfriends you'll ever have. They're not about the nonsense and will love you with their whole heart and more.

The bottom line: If you get a girl who loves to do service and give back to her community, keep her because she is a real gem.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
