Warm Saturday's in the spring are close to a college student's heart because that means that its 'Darty' season. Football Saturday's end in November, and the winter time doesn't give college students a chance to relax outside. Every Saturday during the springtime gives students a chance to be outside, and cut loose with friend's day drinking on the porch or in their yards.
Every year there is always the argument of which light beer reigns supreme amongst Darty goers. Some people prefer Natty Light and others like Miller Lite. There are many other alternatives such as Michelob, Busch, Coors, Rolling Rock, Bud Light, PBR or Keystone. The list goes on and on.
As an adult reading this you might not like many of these choices, but to a college student they are going straight for the cheap stuff. To most college students taste does not matter, and if it goes down like water then they will drink it.
As a 5th year I prefer that my beer be a little smoother and easier to go down, but my opinion doesn't matter at this point. I took to Facebook and Twitter and got a very various responses from a lot of different people.
Right off the bat Michelob Ultra and Miller Lite were two most popular responses I had gotten. Natural Light was a close second, and White Claw was dead last as expected.
Through the 2018 Spring Darty Season my friends and I seemed to switch back and forth between Miller and Busch Light. Miller ended up edging out Busch because a friend's ex-girlfriend that Busch tasted like "toilet water". On the hand, I had never even thought of Michelob because it was always too expensive. Michelob also seemed more of the beer that Dad's drank when they were out playing golf with friends.
Regardless, the people had spoken. Now it was test time.
The Saturday following the social media posts my friends and I went out and each bought a case of the top three choices. The setting couldn't have been more perfect. My lawn looking like a green at Augusta National and the weather was sunny and 65 degrees.
We lit the tiki torches, set out the lawn chairs, and each cracked open a cold one. We had all the factors that would help us decide which light beer reigned supreme.
Michelob Ultra was the first that each of us tested, and it proved to very smooth. It went best as the first beer because it actually had a great taste. We all agreed that we felt like adults over the age of thirty-five drinking with friends at a post-work week get together. All of us approved.
Miller Lite was the second beer we tried. I was excited to get to drinking Miller because it was one of my all-time favorite beers. A couple of my friends debated whether Miller actually tasted than Bud Light because of MillerCoors advertisement as the beer with more "taste". In the end we decided that some of our tastebuds went to FlavorTown, and some went for bust.
Lastly, the long awaited taste test of Natural Light. Each of us were aware that Natty's have absolutely no taste at all, and that's why we loved them. Cheap, and easy to drink and the go-to beer for dad's over the age of 50 and college students alike. We all liked the choice, and approved.
After the taste tests we all voted on what should be crowned "The Best Beer to Drink for Darty Season 2019". The room was divided between Natural Light and Michelob Ultra. Surprisingly, Michelob beat out Miller. During a second vote we all decided the Michelob was the best beer to drink this spring Darty season. It's crisp smooth taste and more classy feel won it the title.
Now, that you know the best beer to drink this spring go out and have fun! Drink responsibly.
