This past week has possibly been one of the most exciting weeks for Kingdome Hearts fans awaiting the highly anticipated "Kingdom Hearts 3" since the game was first announced. This is because Square Enix and Disney released a very important trailer that revealed one of the most requested Disney stories had been added to one of the most anticipated games Square Enix has ever worked on. What made the trailer better is that it finally gave fans an official time frame to expect the game to hit store shelves.
After over 10 years of development, it seems as if "Kingdom hearts 3" is going to be the game Kingdom Hearts fans have been waiting for.
The trailer was released on July 15th during the 2017 D23 Expo. D23 is a convention that is hosted by Disney that allows Disney fans to come and view exclusive trailer viewing of upcoming Disney projects. For the past few years, D23 has showcased exclusive Kingdom Hearts trailers and news, as Kingdome Hearts mashes the world of Final Fantasy with the many different classic Disney stories. What made this particular trailer so explosive was the fact that it revealed that Disney’s most revolutionary franchise, Toy Story, was finally making an appearance in "Kingdom Hearts 3." Kingdom Hearts Fans have wanted Toy Story to play a role in Kingdom Hearts ever since the first Kingdom Hearts game released in 2002. Some fans even managed to find Toy Story characters hidden within the code of past Kingdom Hearts games, which shows Square Enix has been waiting for the perfect time to add Toy Story. Considering that "Kingdom Hearts 3" is the most anticipated game in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, the news that Toy Story was finally going to be added to a Kingdom Hearts game was almost too much for fans to handle.
If the news that Square Enix was including a Toy Story themed world in the "Kingdom Hearts 3" wasn’t enough, Square Enix had another surprise in store for the Kingdom Hearts fans who have been waiting for over a decade. After revealing that Toy Story would be in "Kingdom Hearts 3," Square Enix revealed that the game would be released by the end of 2018. This was huge news as Square Enix had been avoiding any speculation on a release date or release timeframe. Before this trailer, the only hint we go in regards to a release timeframe of "Kingdom Hearts 3" was in the explanation that Tetsuya Nomura gave behind re-releasing "Kingdom Hearts" 1.5 and 2.5. Tetsuya Nomura stated that the Kingdom Hearts team was re-releasing "Kingdom Hearts" 1.5 and 2.5 because they wanted to have all the kingdom hearts games on one console. This implied that they had full intentions of releasing "Kingdom Hearts 3" before the next generation of consoles arrived.
This year’s D23 "Kingdom Hearts 3" trailer defendant lived up to the hype Tetsuya Nomura, director of Kingdom Hearts, said we should expect. At this point, we most likely won't see any more new gameplay until the game hits stores shelves. All fans can really hope for is an early reveal of the cover art.
