The Current Trending Dance Moves Of 2015

I have always prided myself in being the best dancer at the party. Well, at least the one that everyone notices...and the one that hits everyone in the face with her moves. I am currently doing a study where when I when I go out on the town, I take note of the various moves around me. People get pretty creative, and with the recent uproar of Trap/Electronic music, the dance moves have only gotten crazier and more attractive. Exhibit A: girls love doing this thing where they aggressively bob their heads and arms up and down when the beat drops. I’m not quite sure how this started...but all I know is that from now on you participators of this “sick” move should watch where you are throwing those body parts. Kids could get injured. The following tips and tricks about hitting the dance floor will make jaws drop and your buddies jealous.

  1. Fist Pump: This an easy, simple move, but always a crowd pleaser... until you punch a fellow dancer in the face...or a light in the ceiling. Take caution.
  2. The Awkward Sway: This dance is about just as uncomfortable as when you go in for a handshake, and the other person responds with a hug. This awkward sway is for all of you who don't want to draw too much attention to themselves in public situations.
  3. Throwing Money: Not real money of course...we all can’t be Kanye. Make sure to swipe your hands left and right, and blow on the “funds” as you’re doing so.
  4. The Whip: This is a personal favorite of everyone’s, including myself. The trick to this sly move is waiting for the right moment to “let it loose.” Then, clench your wrist, make a cool face, and bend your knees. Nailed it.
  5. The Shake-it Dance: I tried my hardest to find the actual name of this dance, but for now it will remain the "shake-it dance." This is one of the most common dances I have seen people do. You raise your fists and shake it out, the more movement the better.
  6. The Quan: This dance, I will be honest, I had to Google. When I watched the video, I said: "Oh! I have tried to do this!" This trendy jig spawned from the hit track, "Hit The Quan" by iLoveMemphis.
  7. Grinding: I was really hoping that this move wouldn’t carry over into college…I was wrong. Eye spy that awkward couple in the corner grinding it out. Help.
  8. Twerking: Although this dance is popular...it should be avoided at all costs unless the dancer has expert skill and technique.
  9. The Nae-Nae: This one is in correspondence with the whip (mentioned earlier), so you basically have your night choreographed for you with these moves. Basically you just need to put on hand down and give the other one a wave.
  10. Jumping up and down: I thought that after junior high, this dance move would have gotten old, but no. This classic move continues to shine at every party, concert, or school dance that I have attended. It is the go-to, and it shows everyone around you how excited you are to be there just in this one move.

After observation, I have come to the conclusion that these dance moves have summed up 2015, and from personal experience trying all of these moves received an awesome but mixed crowd reactions all around. So I challenge you, go try all these moves by the end of the week -- you won’t regret it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
