Let's be honest: lots of people have said that Connecticut is just a state you pass through and never truly stay in for more than an hour.

It's home to people who can't drive, lots of fields full of cows, and some of the richest people in the United States. Sure. However, growing up there all my life, I would disagree to a certain extent.

There are lots of things to do in the wonderful state of Connecticut--you just have to ask a local.

1. Go fishing on the Connecticut River.

2. Walk around West Hartford's Blue Back Square.

3. Visit the OG L.L. Bean store in Evergreen Walk in South Windsor.

4. Shop at one of the best malls in New England at Westfarms.

5. Admire the beauty of Elizabeth Park in West Hartford.

6. Learn about your local history at Mystic Seaport.

7. See a show before it hits Broadway at Hartford Stage.

8. Check out downtown Westport and all of its amazing shops.

9. Walk up and down the docks at one of Greenwich's many marinas.

10. Go apple picking at Roger's Orchard.

11. Try your hand at Mohegan Sun Arena.

12. See the concert of your dreams at the XFinity Theatre in Hartford.

13. Dare to be adventurous at Bridgeport's Adventure Park.

14. Admire the historical background behind the paintings of Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford.

15. Visit one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in Connecticut at Yale in New Haven.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
