Senior year spring break. Almost every college student enters waiting for the moment when he/she is a second-semester senior. And I was no different. I was also skeptical of the time I would have available for just fun and no work and I wasn’t wrong. I may be a second-semester senior, but in college, the responsibilities for sure never die out.
However, spring break is the one time you have to let loose and just have fun with your closest friends. Some people opt for more traditional breaks than others in locations with only college students while some students opt to do something exotic and explore. No matter what type of person you are, travel during spring break is almost a necessity (Be forewarned though, you will have serious withdrawal when you’re back on campus).
For my senior year spring break, I traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico for a week with a group of my closest friends. Here’s a list of what I found to be the best parts of Spring Break.
1. Crystal clear ocean blues
Most resorts are along the coastlines so you have 24/7 access to the Beach. Run into the water and battle the waves during the day and soak your feet night and feel the cool breeze. If you end up in a place that’s on the West Coast like Puerto Vallarta, then you’ll witness one of the most beautiful sunsets.
2. Endless hours in the pool
Whether you're tanning on the side and spending all your time in the water, the pool is going to be your go-to hang out spot. If you’re anything like my friends, you’ll even make it a point to take a dip at least once every day.
3. Food comas
Food is arguably one of the most important parts of vacation and Mexico will not fail you in this regard. Make the most of your all-inclusive by eating all the various varieties available at your resort but also explore the town. Local food can’t be recreated at a large resort so make it a point to leave the resort at some point. Be careful though! If you’re leaving the United States, make sure you’re eating a place that is safe — and definitely don’t drink tap water.
4. Excursions
The pools and the parties are the classics but excursions take your trip to a whole other level. Riding on an ATV, going snorkeling, exploring the quaint city and walking along the boardwalk are day time activities you’ll definitely want to take part in.
5. And of course…. the nightlife
From foam parties to ragers to raves, a tropical spring break has it all. Supplement your all-inclusive resort with a party package and meet spring breakers from all over the world. That’s right, if you travel international you’ll meet spring breakers from the UK, Canada and France and you’ll be interested in doing the same things every night.
So start planning now!
