24 Sides To College Life: As Told By "Supernatural"

This year, being my first away at college, is a year to adjust to the ins and outs of college life. In doing so, I’ve come to realize there are a lot of moments shared by the majority of the student body: awkward moments, funny moments, mortifying moments, moments in which you have to fight the urge to throw something, happy moments, etc. I've also come to realize that my favorite TV show has plenty of animated gifs to describe these moments perfectly. So, without further ado, here is college life, as told by "Supernatural."

1. Your friends finally show up after you waited for what seemed like decades for them to meet you in the dining hall.

One can only fiddle aimlessly with their phone for so long.

2. You eat away your problems. (It's cardio for your mouth!)

3. When you get approximately zero hours of sleep.

And you can’t be bothered to look presentable the next morning (hairbrushes are overrated).

But you still decide to binge-watch Netflix that night.

And your friends question your choices.

But, really it’s not even a choice, it’s an addiction.

4. The weekend finally arrives.

And, then, before you can even say "relaxation," Monday returns.

5. Your friends do something fun without you while you suffer through an impossible assignment.

But you pretend you’re fine with it.

6. You realize break doesn’t start for over another month.

And you are swamped with school work.

Yet, you spend 90 percent of your time daydreaming about vacation.

It’s finally time to head home!

7. The dining hall is swarming with students, and it’s like you’ve entered a war-zone.

Someone senselessly takes the last of the food you’ve been eagerly waiting for.

8. You get real cozy with your friends when cramming into Ubers to get off campus, and are practically sitting on top of them.

9. You spending so much time with your friends that you end up knowing everything they are thinking.

10. Your teacher assigns you tons of work.

And alludes to the possibility of a pop quiz the following class.

11. You have to work in groups for a project. (Group of one, please?)

12. You trip over your own feet on a daily basis. (Please let no fellow students be watching this.)

13. Being alone in your room means the chance to have a dance party. (I can't be the only one.)

14. Someone reminds you of all the homework you have to do.

And then there are those infamous people that remind the teacher.

15. Someone asks you what you are doing with your life.

16. Being unable to keep track of what day it is.

17. Celebrating joyously when you or your friends get a good grade.

Or, you commiserate when you get a bad grade, even after bucket-loads of mind-numbing studying.

18. When, literally, everything is more interesting than your homework.

Has that wall always been that shade of white? Nothing is not a distraction.

19. Turning in a rough draft -- emphasis on the rough.

20. When a home-cooked meal after weeks of college food is like heaven on earth. Voila!

21. When every person in your dorm decides to do laundry at the same time.

22. When you are in bed, about to close your eyes, and realize you have another assignment. (Internally screams.)

23. Being grateful that your crazy friends are weird with you.

And loving them for making every day an adventure.

So, when you see them after a long break (or even just a day), you hug it out like it’s been a year.

24. Convincing yourself that you can make it through the end of the semester.

Summer is coming.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
