It is officially the middle of October which only means one thing, we are halfway to Halloween!

Now's the time to start brainstorming what you're going to dress up as, if you haven't already. Need some ideas? Well, here's the 10 different kinds of costumes that you'll see around campus on Halloweekend, maybe it will spark some inspiration.

1. The “Basic” Ones

If I had a dollar for every cat, ‘Where’s Waldo’, or referee costume I saw, I’d be able to pay off my student loans now

2. The “Sexy” Ones

“What’re you going to be this year?”“I can’t choose between a sexy nurse, a sexy bunny, a sexy mermaid, or a Victoria’s Secret Angel” *actual conversation I overheard*

3. The “Punny” Ones

I’m not going to lie, I actual really enjoy some of these. They take time to come up with but some of them are a little too farfetched.

4. The “I Thought Of This 30 Minutes Before I Left” Ones

This is the typical ‘I’ll throw on an oversized men’s dress shirt, some Nike Pros, and high socks and go as Risky Business’… not much thinking involved but enough of a costume to get you into the parties

5. The “Couple” Ones

These can range anywhere from the classic Sandy and Danny or Minnie and Mickey, to the more creative Tooth Fairy and dentist or Harry Potter and a golden snitch

6. The “Group Of Friends” Ones

Depending on the size of the group, some of these can get pretty complicated. If you’ve got three people you can do things like PowerPuff girls or the three musketeers, or if you have 7+ you can do ideas such as Snow White and the 7 dwarfs or the Mario Kart characters

7. The “Currently Popular” Ones

These are the ones that are usually characters from whatever movie/TV shows are currently popular. Last year it was mainly a lot of Harley Quinn’s. What’ll it be this year? Guess we’ll have to wait and see

8. The “DIY Crafty” Ones

This is for the people that put A TON of work into their costume. My personal favorite? Once in middle school my teacher dressed up as Barbie still in her box, which she painted and decorated and it looked AWESOME

9. The “I Put No Effort In” One

“I’m going to go as men’s biggest fear and write ‘commitment’ in sloppy letters on a plain white shirt” (goes in correspondence with the “I Thought Of This Thirty Minutes Ago” ones… for obvious reasons)

10. The “I Only Did This Because Of The Makeup” Ones

As soon as the temperature drops lower than 75 degrees, all social media is filled with all the insane costume makeup and special effects that everyone wishes they were talented enough to recreate. Instead most people go for the simpler skeleton makeup or the sugar skull designs

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
