You Shouldn't Be Embarrassed To Be A Christian

Being a Christian in college can be difficult. You're tempted and tried by so many different things so often, it can make things difficult from time to time. Being a Christian in college can be hard if you don't surround yourself with the right kind of people, and you can often be judged for your beliefs by the people that don't quite understand.

But being a Christian in college isn't something that anyone should be ashamed of. It's not something that you should be scared to tell people. And it's definitely not something that you should be embarrassed by. Being a Christian, and one in college is something to be proud of. No matter how much people question your beliefs, be strong in them. Finding your faith should be something exciting and sharing that with other people is too.

Before my sophomore year of college, I was embarrassed to admit that I was a Christian to other people because I thought that they would judge me. I often found myself questioning if it was even possible to be a Christian in college, especially if I wasn't exactly living out that kind of life. Was it even possible to be a Christian in college while also being Greek? I was embarrassed that I would be questioned, made fun of or even shamed for not knowing how to bring those two parts of my life together.

However, after finding my way a little bit more throughout the year and attending Greek Conference, a Christian Conference, I was finally able to bring my faith and college life together. It didn't matter if I was new to studying the Bible, it didn't matter that I was in a social sorority and it didn't matter what other people thought of me. After a life changing weekend, I was excited to start sharing my faith with other people. I began attending my sororities Bible study and signed up to be a leader to share with my sisters the love that God has for everyone. While I was taking leaps in my faith and relationship with God, there was always a little twinge of something holding me back.

I was finally able to take a full leap and jump to completely own my faith and love for God after attending a week long InterVarsity Camp in the upper peninsula. Here, I was able to learn to study the Bible, meet 22 of my very best friends and we were able to grow in our faith together for the whole week. After attending both of these conferences, I finally able to admit that I was not embarrassed to be a Christian.

If there is one thing that I've learned over the past two years of college, it's that you should never be embarrassed to completely and 110 percent own your faith. Being a Christian is something to be proud. Being a Christian is something that you should always be happy to be. Being a Christian is something to be happy about because knowing that God is there for you and will completely provide for you is an awesome feeling, no doubt about it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
