College. As Told By Kimmy Schmidt

Any person who watches Netflix has inevitably heard of or come across the Netflix produced "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." Maybe it is Kimmy's constant can-do attitude or the constant stereotypes the characters are playing and hilariously exaggerating. But I have come to realize that Kimmy Schmidt is the college student in all of us.

1. Walking into the first day of class as a freshman like.

(Or in my case, tipping up the concrete stairs first.)

2. Realizing that you can live on your own and eat and do whatever you want.

3. When your roommate is gone for the night and you just kind of dance around the room singing and dancing in some unfortunate clothing because you know that no one can possibly walk in on you being totally embarrassing.

4. Being an education major and realizing that you should maybe start watching your language because pretty soon there will be 30 impressionable little ones studying your every move.

5. Walking into an exam after you just gave yourself a pep-talk and listened to your pump-up jam.

6. When someone comes at you with something other than good vibes.

7. When you had a really hard day and someone offers you chocolate.

8. Coming home for the weekend and eating so much good (and real) food.

9. The "I am listening to you and will rip this guy's arm off if he touches you again face" as you hold in your anger while consoling your friend.

10. Realizing that you know absolutely nothing about guys.

11. Seeing fries in the dining room and resisting the urge to eat them because you have had them 27 days in a row and realize that the freshman 15 is becoming a reality.

12. Mood swings.

13. Driving to school at the end of the summer and realizing you get to see your favorite people in a matter of hours.

14. When you hangout with your guy friends and try to act like one of the dudes and keep up with them.

15. When all the syllabi come at you.

16. This paper is due when?

17. Sitting in a class where you are totally in over your head and just go along with everyone because they all know exactly what is going on.

18. During sorority recruitment just trying to give a kind compliment and make small talk and end up offending the president.

19. Making sure people know this because college is fudging hard.

20. When everything in your room goes from being perfect to messy.

21. Your peer advisors during your freshman year.

22. Posing with your best friend during a fun night out because you are looking fab and your make-up is #onfleek.

23. Being the only one in a good mood (or not hungover) in your friend group and just trying to lighten the mood.

24. Driving to Walmart alone in the car and jamming so hard because it is the first alone time you have had in a week.

25. Waking up to a mess of clothes, make-up, and snacks on every inch of your room on a Sunday morning and realizing you have done none of your homework and now have to clean your room as well.

26. Realizing coffee exists.

27. Hearing that your partner will be assigned for a project.

28. Meeting your professor on the first day and hearing all of his/her accomplishments and suddenly having deep respect and no words.

29. And the best possible advice, on so many levels.

As the fall nears close, and move-in is just days away, we can get excited for another year having the time of our lives. Happy beginning of the semester to all! And if you get down, just watch some "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and your mood will drastically improve.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
