Your first day back to school is always nerve-wracking and you'd think that in college you would get over it. Nope. No matter how much you convince yourself that you are going to the same building, there are concerns that plague your mind on your first day back...first week even.
You become worried about who your professors will be and how they will be like (if you haven't had them before), you are worried that you might not have classes with any familiar faces (but there usually is one), and you have no idea where your class is exactly, where to sit, or even if you're in the right one! It's new all over again.
The last semester felt comfortable towards the end, and then summer came! You have a fresh start every semester...which is both a good and a bad thing in terms of reputation vs comfort. By this, I mean that your fresh start can mean better grades without having your old ones reflect you. And comfort is entirely erased. You have to resettle.
Besides the fact that everything is new again, the summer went quickly! You had enough time to blink and finally believe you were "off" from school and find yourself back sooner than ever. This is true, especially if you work over the summer! Time flies by!
The only good thing about the beginning of school is that you are refreshed and the smell of new school supplies makes you want to crack open your notebook. The only problem is that it takes a while to get back in the groove.
You convince yourself you have a high motivation and are going to do well this semester, but then the professor says the course will be intense and even gives you homework on your first day. That is just nuts! It's like you go into a deep shock and have to adjust from a happy self-care time of summer to a dreadful stressful and work-filled semester. The environment is dramatically different.
But, on the bright side, I believe school sparks more productivity than in the summer when people are finally given the opportunity to unwind. And that's okay...but there is nothing like the love for summer and realizing you must cherish that bit of time you get to actually relax.
