20 Coldplay Lyrics That Are SO Underrated

If you've listened to the radio at all or have just shuffled through the Pop/Alternative Hits playlist on your preferred streaming site, then you have definitely listened to a Coldplay song at least once in your life. From their classic hits (like "Yellow" and "The Scientist"), to their different-kind-of-vibe songs of today (like "Hymn for the Weekend" and "Something Just Like This"), this band has made people all over the world fall in love with their music- or the art form in general- time and time again.

I know that this band has become such a big part of my musical identity since I really started listening to all of their stuff in high school (big props to one of my best friends for that one), and their music never fails to surprise me or make me feel a hundred different things at once- even things I've never felt before with any other song. So in lieu of this, I've decided to compile their most genius lyrics that I've fallen in love with over the years. From songs of inspiring words and uplifting serenades of love to the struggles of life and doing all the seemingly wrong things, Coldplay never fails to hit the nail on the head with some superb and unique lyrics.*

*Don't be afraid to look up these songs and give them a listen, too!

"Hope has its proof / Your hand in mine, singing / Life has a beautiful, crazy design" - "Amazing Day"

This will be my wedding song one day. Future husband- you've been advised.

"All those signs I knew what they meant / Some things you can't invent / Some get made and some get sent" - "Speed of Sound"

I'm a big believer in signs from The Universe and "The Man Upstairs," so I just love how these lyrics remind me of this.

"Stood on the edge, tied to a noose / And you came along and you cut me loose" - "Amsterdam"

Okay, so these are some pretty dark lyrics, but it just goes to show how just one person can really save and mean so much to another human being.

"Lying in the gutter, aiming for the moon / Trying to empty out the ocean with a spoon/ Up and up"- "Up&Up"

Oh, come on, this metaphor is crazy good!

"You want to stop before you begin / You want to sink when you know you could swim / You want to stop just before you begin / Never give in" - "Crest of Waves"

Everyone needs a reminder to never give up on your dreams- simply because they could be just around the corner and that you are very capable of making them happen. Just do it!

"For you I'd wait 'til Kingdom Come / Until my day my day is done / And say you'll come and set me free / Just say you'll wait you'll wait for me" - "'Til Kingdom Come"

I remember hearing this song for the first time in The Amazing Spider-Man and it's had a special place in my heart since. The lyrics are so sweet and the song gives off such a good vibe. Ugh, I love it.

"So we'll soar / Luminous and wired / We'll be glowing in the dark" - "Charlie Brown"

I can't even put into words how happy this song always makes me feel when it's turned on, but here are a few words that come to mind when I think of the song: Sunshine. Dancing. Eternity. Love. Life.

"Oh, what I wouldn't give for just a moment to hold / Because I live for this feeling, this everglow / So if you love someone, you should let them know / Oh, the light that you gave me will everglow" - "Everglow"

This song is so sweet and romantic, and I've vowed to learn to play it entirely on the piano one day. Chris Martin- if you're reading this, could you maybe give this aspiring musician a lesson?

"Lord, I don't know which way I am going / Which way the river going to flow / It just seems that upstream, I keep rowing / Still got such a long way to go" - "U.F.O."

Another set of lyrics that just inspire you to keep on going- not to mention that this song is a smooth jam, too.

"So you don't know where you're going, and you wanna talk? / And you feel like you're going where you've been before? / You tell anyone who'll listen, but you feel ignored? / Nothing's really making any sense at all; let's talk" - "Talk"

This song is a really good one, and it tells the story of a person that has really been inside their head and wants to talk to someone (a "brother") about it. And who else can relate really hard to these lyrics?

"I feel my heart start beating to my favorite song / And all the kids they dance, all the kids all night / Until Monday morning feels another life / I turn the music up, I'm on a roll this time / And heaven is in sight / ... I'd rather be a comma than a full stop / ... And my heart is beating and my pulses start / Cathedrals in my heart" - "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall"

Everyone pictures themselves in a music video whenever they plug their headphones in, and that's exactly what this song reminds me of after really paying attention to the lyrics. Plus, it's another one of their songs you can dance to all night long.

"Oh, didn't we have fun? / But then, maybe we could again" - "Fun"

I have to say, this song means a lot to me for personal reasons. But if you listen to the entire song and then hear these last lyrics at the very end, it gives hope that maybe the story isn't over after all. Who doesn't love that possibility?

"But I won't show or feel any pain / Even though all my armor might rust in the rain / A simple plot / But I know, one day / Good things are coming our way" - "Up With the Birds"

This song is so uplifting when you listen to it, and these lyrics perfectly depict it.

"The devil as he's talking with those angel's eyes / ... Like a river to a raindrop, I lost a friend" - "Us Against the World"

So these lyrics aren't right after one another, but I couldn't choose between the two. The metaphors are just so good- they did it again!

"So I never say die, aim never untrue / I'm never so high as when I'm with you / And there isn't a fire that I wouldn't walk through / My army of one is gonna fight for you" - "Army of One"

This is another song that I have an intimate relationship with, and when the lyrics are talking about not giving up on someone you love, it hits you right in your core.

"Where'd you wanna go? / How much you wanna risk? / I'm not looking for somebody / With some superhuman gifts / Some superhero / Some fairytale bliss / Just something I can turn to / Somebody I can kiss / I want something just like this" - "Something Just Like This" ft. The Chainsmokers

So even though this song has been overplayed over the past two years and it's also by The Chainsmokers, this song will forever remind me of one of the happiest times in my life. The song also mentions Spider-Man, so how could I not have it in my top favorite songs by them?

"And high up above or down below / When you're too in love to let it go / But if you never try you'll never know / Just what you're worth" - "Fix You"

... or the whole song, to be honest. Enough said.

"Questions of science, science and programs / Do not speak as loud as my heart / Tell me you love me, come back and haunt me / Oh, and I rush to the start" - "The Scientist"

I haven't really connected to this song until recently, but the message of wanting to go back to the start of a relationship is super relatable to anyone who has gotten to a rough patch of one. Also, the parallel of science and the feelings of the heart is just too good to not include on this list.

"I could've been a princess, you'd be a king / Could've had a castle, and worn a ring / But no, you let me go" - "Princess of China" ft. Rihanna

If you've ever fallen in love, you always wonder about the "what ifs," and this song reminds me of that. Having a song that makes you take out your inner frustrations about those matters really makes me appreciate Coldplay (and Rihanna, of course) more, too.

"If we've only got this life / This adventure, oh then I / Want to share it with you" - "Adventure of a Lifetime"

This song has become one of my favorites to bop to in my car, and it also reminds you to just live life fully in the way you want to.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
