Although Starbucks is delicious, the one in the CofC library can get quite crowded...here are my personal 10 favorite coffee spots in the best city in the world, Charleston!!

10. Gnome Cafe

This cafe not only serves delicious coffee but has a huge menu that all is 100% VEGAN!

9. The Bearded Cafe


This one may be considered a whole on the wall on Spring Street, but the coffee is to die for. They also have pastries and bagels! A small place, nice for a grab & go deal.

8. Skinny Dip Charleston

With downstairs as a store, go upstairs to find a coffee bar and the CUTEST outdoor seating area to get your work done!

7. Tricera Coffee

Located on George St. and King St. this cute place is my GO TO spot for studying in between classes!

6. The Rise

Below The Restoration Hotel, The Rise Coffee Bar is a sleek place, with a cute outdoor area perfect for a coffee break with your friends!

5. Black Tap Coffee

This coffee shop is perfect for the morning newspaper, homework or some great quiche!

4. Vintage Coffee Cafe

This one is over the bridge in Mount Pleasant! It has a large outdoor area with picnic tables, a playground for kids and a pizza bar for dinner! The breakfast/brunch food along with the coffee is tasty and quick!

3. The Daily

Great for sitting for hours and doing work, or hanging with friends! Reasonably priced coffee and scrumptious food!

2. The Eclectic Cafe and Vinyl

This cafe has AMAZING breakfast food and coffee! The vibe is great, and you can even buy records there!

1. Kudu


My absolute personal favorite, Kudu has the best coffee and pastries! They also don't have wifi, so its a great place to sit on their beautiful outdoor patio and have quality conversations with your friends!

And there ya have it!!! The best 10 coffee shops in Charleston, SC. But honestly, it's Charleston.. you can't go wrong anywhere!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
