While there are so many great Christmas movies, these are just a few of my favorites. I highly recommend turning one of these 13 movies on whenever you find yourself curled up with hot chocolate and piled under cozy blankets.

1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Who doesn’t want to snuggle up on the couch and laugh at Jim Carey playing the perfect Grinch? Not only is Cindy Lou Who the cutest little girl with high hopes for the Grinch, her singing Christmas songs gets everyone in the spirit.

2. The Polar Express

While the elves look a little bit on the creepy side in this movie, it is still the one of the best in helping you rediscover your Christmas spirit. The magic of the bell puts a smile on everyone’s face no matter how old you are.

3. Deck the Halls

This movie is honestly one of the bests if you are in need of a laugh and a good light show. Who doesn’t like a little competition with their Christmas decorations? Watch two neighbors battle it out to be “that Christmas guy.”

4. Christmas with the Kranks

Most college students understand the excitement their parents have when they arrive home for the holidays. Imagine how the Kranks feel when they learn their daughter won’t be home this year...

5. The Spirit of Christmas

A lot of people put down hallmark movies for their bad acting or corny plots. What they don’t realize is that no matter how stereotypical the story line is, these Christmas movies are always the best. This main character finds herself falling for a man that might not even be alive.

6. Dear Santa

Again, with the corny Christmas movie plots—but this one is a special kind of movie. A letter to Santa is such a precious thing, especially one that brings love.

7. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

As truly goofy and dated this movie is, you can’t help but laugh at this family’s adventures. When it comes to cutting down the perfect tree or spending time with extended family, the Griswold’s can’t do anything normal.

8. The Santa Claus

All three of the Santa Claus movies are hands down some of the greatest Christmas movies. But the first one holds a special place in my heart. It’s the beginning of Scott Calvin’s life in the North pole, how could it not be the best?

9. A Holiday

Everyone needs a break from their life from time to time. These two women do exactly that during the best time of the year. And you know what? They both happen to find unexpected love—which makes this Christmas movie one of the bests.

10. Christmas Kiss

Perhaps the Christmas movie is a modern-day twist on Cinderella? You can find this love story between the hot business man and the gorgeous low-grade assistant on Netflix whenever you are in the mood for a happy ever after.

11. Arthur Christmas

Anytime you’re in the mood for an animated movie to get you into the holiday spirit, this is the one I would switch on. Arthur does whatever he can to make sure a bike left behind is delivered Christmas morning.

12. The Christmas Card

Another cheesy Hallmark movie that pulls at the heart strings. A solider on leave comes home only to fall in love with a woman who sent Christmas cards to his unit in the Army.

13. Annie Claus is Coming to Town

Most people imagine Santa but they don’t stop to think about his children. In this Christmas movie Annie Claus gets her chance at love.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
