Free at last! The semester is OVER and I feel like I'm finally exhaling for the first time in weeks, maybe months! I love go-go-go-ing and staying busy, but my body is definitely telling me it's time to slow down, spend time with my family, and celebrate the best day of the year, Christmas!!! But what are you even supposed to do for a whole month now that you're home?? Why I'm so glad you asked because I fully intend to answer! Here are 11 things that are on my unofficial to-do list this winter break!

1. Sleep for over 10 hours

Done and done. I am an early riser and it really takes it out of me sometimes, especially after staying up late during finals. Working retail this break isn't exactly making me feel super well rested either so I am very eager to catch up on my beloved sleep.

2. Spend a day in your jammies

I don't make the rules, sorry! But you have to spend at least one day in your favorite jammies (preferably Christmas) and catch up on your shows and movies! Bonus points for popcorn and breakfast food!

3. Go overboard on Christmas spirit

I'm talking matching Christmas jammies, gingerbread houses, sugar cookies (you know which ones I'm talking about), Christmas movies, looking at Christmas lights, everything. Leave no stone unturned. It's the most wonderful time of the year people!!!

4. Take time to put your health first

Let's be honest, no one in college is getting enough sleep or vitamins. Eat your fruits and veggies and rest over break so your body and mind is recovered and rejuvenated for the spring semester!

5. Do a deep cleanse and reorganize

Purging makes me feel so good! I try to get rid of clothes if I haven't worn it in a year, Plato's Closet, here I come! I also love getting organized very prematurely for the upcoming semester so it doesn't overwhelm me all at once when I get back. I can't wait to get matching journals. Sorry not sorry.

6. Catch up with your sibling(s)

If you know my brother and I, you know we are literally inseparable. We gossip like soccer moms, cuddle like toddlers, and make fun of each other like, well, siblings. He's my one constant and I'm forever grateful.

7. Visit your home church

The best feeling!!! I especially love my church when it's decorated for Christmas!! All the trees fill my heart to the brim! Getting to see all of your friends and old mentors is so refreshing, I seriously love my home church so much.

8. Spend time with your family

I hate college for making me be apart from my parents, it's worse than studying and loud neighbors combined, no joke. They are the coolest people I know!! Gotta soak in all the home cooked meals and family time that you can!

9. Spend time with your high school best friend

College comes with lots of new friends, but if we're being honest, no one can compare to your OG best friend who's been there through it all. Time apart and distance means so little when being able to pick up right where you left off means so much.

10. Visit all the places you love in your hometown

For me that's Summer Moon Coffee and basically Dallas in its entirety. Seriously the best coffee in the world, please open one in College Station!!!!

11. Take as many pictures of your dog as possible

Self-explanatory. If only I could take my pup with me! Pictures are the next best thing though, thank goodness. My pup is my emotional help pup whether she realizes it or not!

& don't forget just be happy! It's the hap-happiest season of all!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
