Chipotle Queso Is The Biggest Food Disappointment of 2017

And that's saying a lot.

Chipotle announced that on September 12th it would be launching its new queso nationwide, so as an avid Chipotle and queso lover I knew I had to try it. Previously to get my Chipotle con queso fix I'd have to drive to Chipotle, get my bowl, and then drive to Moe's (which was right across the street, but it was still so much work) to buy queso. Now all I'd have to do was go to Chipotle and I could get everything in one place! It was a dream come true, until I actually tried Chipotle's queso.

My order was the same it always is with the exception of a drizzle of queso on my chicken bowl and a side of queso with my chips. I dug into my bowl and shoved a heaping scoop into my mouth expecting to be delighted by a rush of cheesiness, but there was nothing special. It just tasted like I was eating a normal bowl, just slightly moister.

The worst part didn’t come until I had the queso with chips. One bite of a queso covered chip and I was out. The queso was more liquidy than it was gooey, and it had a strange grainy texture to it that reminded me of powdered cheese instead of the natural cheese that Chipotle loves to boast that it uses. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

After the release, many costumers took to twitter to share their dissatisfaction with the world.

Or this guy who doesn’t want to inflict pain onto others like it was inflicted onto him

Even sports fans aren’t fans of the queso

And while some people did like the queso, they weren’t as enthusiastic about it.

Like this guy who found the queso to actually be pretty good

Or this girl who definitely disagreed with the naysayers

Or this girl who, in her professional opinion, found it good

So at the end of the day it's really just a matter of opinion. Would I personally recommend it? Probably not. Moe's, Qdoba, Tijuana Flats and probably anywhere else that sells queso take the win for this one. But, you can still catch me at Chipotle getting a chicken bowl and chips, just without any queso.
