I really want chickens. People always ask, "Why do you want chickens? Eggs are cheap anyway." Those people just don't get it. I'm going to share a few reasons I really want chickens.

1. You know where your eggs come from

You might think you know what your eggs have been through, but do you really know? The only person you can trust in this life is you, and your own chickens.

2. You get to give them a home

Like us, chickens just want to be happy. You and the chickens both will feel great knowing you gave them a good home.

3. You can use their poop

If you have a garden you can use their poop to fertilize your garden. That's great.

4. You get to be around them

It's like having any other pet. You just get to hang out with them and have a good time.

5. They eat bugs

I do not like bugs. So the more bugs the chickens eat, the happier I am.

6. They eat your leftover food

Chickens can eat your leftover food so it doesn't go to waste. This makes for a better environment and happy chickens.

7. You learn about responsibility

Yes, you could learn about responsibility in other ways, but chickens are one way. You do actually have to feed them, give them a good home, and care for them. So that all requires some responsibility.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
