Here are a few places in Athens that you have probably never heard of, but are perfect for when you want to get out and enjoy some time with your friends!

1. Redneck Beach

It is about to start warming up and this is the perfect little spot in Athens where you can get all of your friends together and explore somewhere off of campus. There is a beautiful waterfall and a lot of great places to Eno. This spot gets pretty popular in the warmer seasons, but it is a great time that is free of charge!

2. The Iron Horse

The Iron Horse is a huge sculpture in a middle of a field, and although this might sound boring it is the perfect spot for several different activities. This field is a great spot to see all of the stars at night; it gives a perfect view because the sky is not masked by the city life. During the day time, this is a great place to go and take picture with your friends!

3. Trail Creek

Trail Creek is a mountain bike trail and it is for moderate riders. It is a great place to get out and enjoy the outdoors, and there is even a playground-- because who doesn't love to still play on the swings.

4. Sandy Creek

Sandy Creek is a little bit further away, but this is a great place to grab some of your friends and take a day trip to! This park is an area with plenty of space where you can play sports or just hang out and enjoy some sun. There is also a beach area where you can swim in the lake. Now that it is about to start warming up this would be a great place to tan or to just get out of Athens for the day.

5. Showtime Bowling

Showtime Bowling is located at the end of Lumpkin and it is a unique atmosphere where you can go with friends and pay minimum for food and fun! It is super close to campus so it is perfect for nights when you are tired of studying and just need to get out for a bit. Not only do they have bowling, but they also have a arcade center, so you can channel your inner competitiveness and have a great night with friends!
