No one wants to hear that you're one of the good ones right now.

If you're upset that a person of color is upset that their life continues to be undermined by the injustice of society because #NotAllWhitePeople...

I'm not sorry to say it's not about you.

People of color won't cater to your feelings of trying to understand or hold your hand through this emotional process because it's their process not yours.

It's not about you or your feelings.

A woman died Saturday, August 12th, during a racist protest including members from the Neo-nazi group, Neo-confederate, and KKK. Two others also died in a police helicopter crash, working the racist protest.

Those that have walked alongside those hateful groups symbolize their distaste to being a human. These individuals were assembled to silence, threaten, and harm anyone who wants equality.

If the biggest summary you got out of this from people of color being upset over issues that personally affect them you are part of the problem. If you try to avoid the issue of racism and try to say "some white people aren't that bad" you are part of the problem. Or that your family has no lineage in slave owning, or that you have a friend that's black or your best friend is black (This argument personally annoys me every time), or that you just want to understand why people of color don't feel the need to explain their frustrations with centuries of oppression at the hands of people who look like you, you are part of the problem.

If you feel the need to justify yourself and say "...what about me?" then you are part of the problem.

If you hear black people and other people of color voicing their opinion and expressing their pain, let them and don't make it about you. Don't let any ideas conjure up in your head about how you're the good person — that's not what's important.

You made a rally about hate about you.

You made a murder by terrorism about you.

You made people getting beat up by racists about you.

You made everything about you when it wasn't about you in the first place.

If you think we should prioritize how you feel and make sure your feelings aren't hurt: check your privilege at the door on your way out.

Seriously.

#NotAllWhitePeople is the opposite of helping.

Check your privilege.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
