Challenges And Changes: 2017

It's easy to stick to what we know and never grow as people. In 2017, try these new things and challenge yourself to your own list too. You may be surprised just how rewarding something new can be.

1. Travel to a place you've never been. Get out into the world and go explore. Time is precious and so are experiences.

2. Don't take the people you love for granted. No one is promised tomorrow.

3. Set goals. Whether it's to eat better, exercise more, or to get straight A's, do it.

4. Walk away from the negativity in your life. You don't need that, life is already hard enough.

5. Really ask yourself if you absolutely need that new shirt from Victoria's Secret or if you just have a retail therapy problem.

6. Same goes for Taco Bell and McDonalds..Do you really need that extra Big Mac?

7. Quit stressing and worrying over things you can't control. Ain't nobody got time for that!

8. Quit crying over the same boy over and over again. If you're crying more than you're laughing with him, let him go. There will be others, I promise.

9. If you have a guy who has a heart of gold, keep him. Those are rare and hard to come by but they do come along. Trust me.

10. It's okay not to follow and do what everyone else is doing. Be your own person.

11. Don't take your bad attitude out on someone who did nothing to you. Learn to breathe and learn that everything, more times than not, will be okay.

12. Do something kind for someone each day. It goes a long way.

13. Save money. You'll never know when you need it.

14. Your happiness comes first. Always.

15. If you want something expensive, work for it.

16. Live life to the fullest. In the words of Tim McGraw, "Live like you were dying".

17. Reconnect with old friends, but also make new ones.

18. Work hard at school and at work. Hard work really does pay off.

19. Find new hobbies. There are so many things out there to learn about and try. Don't limit yourself.

20. Make this chapter a great one. Redeem yourself for prior chapters that you wish you could erase. Don't let others write your story for you and don't let them make themselves the main character in your book.

This is your year and it is what you make of it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
