Cats Are The Superior Pet, So Don't Try To Tell Me Differently

Almost every person you meet has had some form of pet at least once in their lifetime. Whether it be a fish, goat, horse, dog cat, or something else people have their opinions on the “best pet.” I grew up having cats and at times my house had 4 or more cats, but not all of them stayed and some ran off or went to better homes.

To me, cats are the best pet someone could have. There are so many reasons why, but I’ll tell you my top three reasons.

1. Cats don’t need constant attention

Cats are super chill and don’t need to be looked at every second of every day. If you want to take a small vacation, it’s easy to have a friend make sure the cat has fresh food and water once a day. They don’t need to be walked or need to be let out to use the bathroom (unless that’s what your cat normally does). The cats I grew up are usually self-entertaining and play by themselves and sleep when they want to.

2. Cats don’t take up your whole lap and crush you if they try to lay with you

While I did know a cat that weighed roughly 23 pounds, he still was lighter than a dog. Cats are fairly light pets and won’t crush you when they lay down, plus are fairly easy to move when you gotta get up from where your sitting. Plus, they won’t roll around everywhere trying to play with you while you’re petting them.

3. The unconditional love they give

I don’t know about you, but my cats are some of the most loving cats you’ll ever meet. They just seem to know when you’ve had a bad day and will snuggle you until you feel better. The way they purr, the feel of their fur against your skin, and the weight of them laying on you instantly makes you feel so much better. It’s as though they’re saying “I understand you’re sad, but I still love you”.

I’ve had my share of cats in my lifetime, but they always know how to love you unconditionally. Yes, they can make you want to rip your hair out with early feeding time wake-up calls and knocking things off places, but they will always love you no matter what.

Bonus reason!!!

I mean how can you say no to this face?! It’s so precious!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
