6 Catchy Spanish Songs To Understand Spanish

I took Spanish in hopes to eventually be able to sing Despacito without mumbling random sounds and to actually know the lyrics.

My Spanish professor is extremely talkative, teaches Salsa at SU, and a native Spanish speaker, so I don't catch everything he says because it's so fast. The best thing about the class so far has to be when he plays a Spanish song before every class. I've been listening to Spanish music recently hoping I'll understand one lyric without having to read them.

1. Vivir Mi Vida- Marc Anthony

This is an old one, but a good one. The tempo is slower, so the words are easier to understand. The vocabulary isn't difficult to understand either.

2. Esto Es Africa- Shakira

Fun fact: I can do a fairly accurate Shakira impression when she singing in English. I know Waka Waka by heart in English and part of the first verse in this version.

3. Bailando- Enrique Iglesias

The chorus is very catchy, simple, and most importantly repetitive. Keep listening to it on repeat to pick up on words you haven't before. Like other Spanish songs featured on this list, it'll make you want to dance (it's sort of in the title).

4. Chantaje ft. Maluma- Shakira

This one is a little bit more difficult to sing, but it's very easy to learn with the lyrics. This song definitely improves my understanding of Spanish pronunciation finding which syllables are stressed and which letters make what sounds together.

5. Vamos A La Playa- Loona

Very easy chorus and some English. The autotune and synthetic sounds can be a little annoying, but it is definitely one of the easiest Spanish songs to understand. Also, there are some English sections included. I'd call this the most basic out of the entire playlist.

6. Hasta El Amancer- Nicky Jam

This song is a little more advanced-beginner. The chorus is very clear, the rap is a little quicker, but reading along with the lyrics, it's not too bad.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
