We all assume we know what depression is, but do we really?

Depression is characterized as a mental condition characterized by feelings of severe despondency and dejection, typically also with feelings of inadequacy and guilt. Some signs of depression include lack of energy, lost of appetite, and sleep. Depression is a serious illness and depending on the person sometimes you don't even know if the person is depressed or not. A person can look happy on the outside, but in the inside feel hopeless, and sad.

Cara Delevingne just recently opened up about depression and how much it has affected her life. The celebrity said that her depression started at around eight years old, which is also around the same time that her mother was struggling with heroin. As she got older her depression worsened. By the time she was 16, Cara decided to deal with depression properly.

"I was suicidal", Cara Delevingne admitted in an interview with abc news. "I couldn't deal with it any more. I realized how lucky and privileged I was, but all I wanted to do was die. I felt so guilty because of that and hated myself because of that, and then it's a cycle. I didn't want to exist anymore. I wanted for each molecule of my body to disintegrate. I wanted to die."

Even with the struggles of growing up the celebrity described her mother as "incredible". "She always had so much love", "And I felt like when I was a kid I was kind of like her confidante. I really felt like I understood her and how she was feeling and why."

We all go through hardships in our lives. But, we have to remember that these hardships will only shape us to be better individuals. We may not know what happens in the homes of others, which is why we should never judge a book by it's cover, you never who has it worse than you do.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
