Can You Stop the Artificial Intelligence Takeover?

We've all seen too many movies about robots and machines, eventually dominating planet Earth. And while we all think that these scenarios make fun and exciting movie plots, we also believe nothing could be farther from the truth. Well, think again!

As Artificial Intelligence grows, well, more intelligent, should we be scared of machines taking over our jobs? Maybe we should, perhaps we shouldn't. Experts foresee an AI uprising in the next few years, but how worried should we be?

What is an AI takeover?

An AI takeover is a speculative scenario in which machines and anything with Artificial Intelligence proceeds to become the dominant intelligent form on the planet. Some possible AI Takeover scenarios are the replacement of all human workforce by machines, robot revolts, and a likely creation of a superintelligent AI.

While some of the things mentioned above sound something like a crazy movie plot, many experts believe that several lines of work could be automated within the next decade. But is the imminent colossal change mean doom for humans? Not exactly. AI comes in handy, no doubt, but it still needs human ingenuity to function. It may take over the repetitive tasks that are included in a worker's job description, but it can't possibly outperform a human on more complex undertakings.

What Jobs Will AI Replace and What Jobs are Safe?

There's no need to feel so gloomy about this whole AI human jobs takeover thing. Machines and robots could not do what humans do best! Marketing managers are pretty "robot takeover-proof," and while writers do have a higher probability of being replaced, the chances of that happening is at the low end of the scale.

So, which possible jobs is AI replacing? Telemarketers top the list, one that also includes market analysts, computer support people, bookkeepers, and receptionists. Telemarketing gigs have a 99% chance to be dislodged by AI soon, and it all makes sense. Telemarketers don't exactly have a rocking resume as far as conversion rates are concerned, so we see the point of an AI takeover here.

On the other end of the spectrum, which jobs are the safest from a takeover? Well, marketing managers and writers were already mentioned above for obvious reasons. Other professions that are basically out of a robot's reach are Human Resource Managers, Software Developers, Editors, PR Managers, Event Planners, and Chief Executives.

Again, the results offer no surprise. These irreplaceable jobs require a human touch since they have to deal with possible interpersonal conflicts, employee collaboration, and feedback response to make projects successful.

How to Make Your Job Safe From AI Takeover

With the advancement of Artificial Intelligence applications, such as speech recognition, deep learning, and so forth, the future is slowly taking shape. That includes taking over some jobs that make human workers inefficient. What if your job requires a lot of repetitive tasks that can be replaced with AI automation, can you do something about it?

Absolutely! The key is to develop the skills and attributes that cannot be replicated by Artificial Intelligence. For instance, you may want to try getting out of your comfort zone by taking on ventures that require collaboration or something that will train your management and leadership skills. Another option is to acquire new creative skills such as design, video editing, writing, and others.

Conclusion

The doomsday scenarios about AI takeover may be out of the realm of possibility, but when we are talking about your job, that's another story. If you're in telemarketing, bookkeeping, or a receptionist, you need to initiate a move now to render your career as future-proof as possible. It's not that difficult, to begin with, and it's truly rewarding! You just need to go with the flow and learn skills that will make you irreplaceable.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
