There has been a recent news story about an autistic boy named Caleb and his teacher Ms. Lindsey. The story goes that Caleb was about to speak in his class' Thanksgiving play as a turkey. At the end of the play, Caleb went up to the microphone to say "Gobble Gobble", but before he could, Ms. Lindsey snatched away the microphone. After that Caleb dissolved into tears and his parents took to social media where complete strangers began to verbally attack Ms. Lindsey.

However, an even more recent update has been released bringing to light that it was not Ms. Lindsey's fault after all. In fact, Caleb's mother did not allow her son to be in the Thanksgiving play until the very last minute. (And by 'allow', I mean she demanded that Caleb be put in the play the day of the performance. And pictures of the program from other parents at the play show that Caleb's name is nowhere to be found on said program.) Ms. Lindsey and Caleb's mother, however, did come to an agreement that Caleb will perform in the play, but with no lines because he has not attended any rehearsals and did not know what the play was even about. Seems reasonable, right? Well, Caleb's mother told him right before the show to say "gobble gobble" and did not let Ms. Lindsey know that he suddenly had a speaking role.

After the play, Caleb goes up to say his last-minute-lines and Ms. Lindsey took away the microphone because she did not know what he was going to say and the play was over. Caleb's mother set him up for this kind of embarrassment and people who publicly attacked Ms. Lindsey need to issue an apology because this was not her fault. And Caleb's mother needs to apologize to her son for putting him through this as well as Ms. Lindsey.

While the original video was taken down, here is a link to the news article that first covered the story and here is another article with pictures of the program.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
