The city of Seattle sure knows how to send summer off with a bang! The annual Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival takes place every Labor Day weekend, signaling the end of summer in the Pacific Northwest. This diverse festival is the perfect centerpiece for a visit to Seattle.

Here is everything that you need to know about how to make the most out of the Bumbershoot experience.

Bumbershoot 2019 Details

This year's Bumbershoot event is scheduled to be held August 30 through September 1 at the Seattle Center. A number of stages come alive with music from a wide array of talented artists.

Friday's headlining acts include Tyler the Creator, Hippie Sabotage, and Lizzo.

On Saturday, The Lumineers will take to the main stage after performances by H.E.R, Jai Wolf, and Carley Rae Jepsen.

Sunday's lineup includes appearances by Rezz, Louis the Child, and Taking Back Sunday.

In addition to great musical performances, the festival also features a bevy of comedy acts, podcasts, art, craft vendors, and other activities such as yoga.

A variety of ticket packages are available, including standard one-day general admission tickets, multi-day passes, and VIP packages. With so many ticketing options, you can customize your Bumbershoot experience to fit your personal specifications.

Finding the Right Place to Stay

You are going to need to place to sleep in between all of the fun times at Bumbershoot. Fortunately, there is a myriad of hotels in Bellevue Seattle to make your jumping-off point for adventure.

The Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Seattle's Eastside is a good choice if you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Bumbershoot. This upscale hotel puts you right in the heart of downtown Bellevue and its vibrant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The modern guest rooms and indoor pool provide the perfect respite after a long day soaking up everything at Bumbershoot.

If you want to stay as close to the festival grounds as possible, check out the Inn at Queen Anne Seattle. This hotel doesn't offer a lot as far as amenities go, but this downtown hotel is just a short walk to Bumbershoot.

Additional Sights to See

There is no shortage of fun things to explore while visiting Seattle. While in the Seattle Center at Bumbershoot, you must make time to soar to the top of the Space Needle. Also within walking distance to the festival, you will find attractions such as the Pacific Science Center, the Museum of Pop Culture, and a bevy of shopping and entertainment opportunities. Visitors can also take the two-mile monorail ride to the heart of downtown Seattle and visit attractions such as the legendary Pike Place Market and the Seattle Art Museum.

Food and Drinks

While attending Bumbershoot, you can head over to the Seattle Center Armory for a myriad of food and drink options. Blue Water Taco serves up a cornucopia of coastal style Mexican food and drink. Or choose the Skillet Counter for mouthwatering burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. Just a few blocks away from the Seattle Center, you will find the local favorite pub, McMenamins Queen Anne. This iconic bar is known for its exceptional happy hour, Northwest-style pub fare, and hand-crafted beer. If you want to escape the crowds of Bumbershoot, be sure to consider a meal at Ivar's Acres of Clams. Located along the scenic Seattle waterfront, this institution serves up the freshest catches of the day while providing sweeping views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
