BRRRECKENRIDGE

This year Mississippi State teamed with lifestyle tours to allow students to travel to Breckenridge, Colorado for an annual ski trip. This is my first time to go skiing , so I thought I would share my experience!

We arrived in Denver, Colorado after an hour flight to Dallas and then a connecting flight to Denver that was two hours.

Needless to say, we were worn out.

We then rode a two-hour shuttle to Breckenridge and immediately went to the grocery store to buy food for the week. Pro tip: make and bring sandwiches for the slopes, so you don't have to buy meals at the restaurants because they can be very pricey. The first day my friends and I decided to skip ski school and try it out on our own.

This is not a good idea.

We somehow ended up on a blue/ black slope and ski patrol had to come to save us with the sled. We decided to stick to greens for the rest of the trip! For dinner, all of our friends have been hitting the town and trying out different restaurants.

So far, the food has been AMAZING! The only problem we have had this trip is cold. Let me tell you, the temperature is about -15 degrees usually and we are not having it. Our Mississippi blood was not made for this snow. We look like marshmallows with the number of layers we have on, it's honestly hilarious.

Tonight the lifestyle tours are offering us the chance to go see Rich the Kid ( you know the guy who sings plug walk) that is included in our trip! Is that not the coolest thing ever? We also get to ski for three days as apart of the package which is so awesome. It may not seem like a lot, but trust me, skiing wears you out. At this point, I'm hoping I have lost my freshman fifteen with how much it has worked me out! You can also buy the optional fourth day to ski, but my friends and I decided we want to go exploring the town and buying Christmas presents for our family.

The lodge we are staying at is also perfect because it includes a kitchen, bed, pullout couch, and balcony. This is great for me and the other three girls I'm staying with. The lodge also has a lift a block away so we can immediately go skiing and it even includes a sauna and hot tub. Talk about a great deal!

This trip has been such a bonding experience for me and my friends and has been such an out of comfort thing for us. Being from the south, we don't get to do this sort of thing every day, so this trip is an awesome getaway! I highly recommend doing the ski trip for MSU students because at the rate that this trip has gone I will be attending the other 3 years of college!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
