Breaking Down The Barriers

Whatever you have been holding on to from this year that has created a barrier in your heart, Jesus wants to mend it.

FENCE: a barrier, railing, or other upright structure, typically of wood or wire, enclosing an area of ground to mark a boundary, control access, or prevent escape. There are many different types of fence: wooden, plastic, wire(for animals). All used for different purposes, all different heights, all different widths.

I think a lot of the time, we put fences in front of our heart. We all experience certain things at a different height. Those things produce different depths of hurt and after a while, we start to completely block things from coming in. We're scared. We're on the edge because we're scared about getting hurt again, and I get that. I've been in that position. But, living with a fence around your heart is not a fun way to live. Sooner or later, that fence in front of your heart starts wrecking your relationships, your dreams, and your self-esteem.

I'm a big dreamer, I really always have been. I dream of dreams that seem too big for human ability. However, I was so hurt by what this world threw at me that I put a barrier around my heart. I stopped things from coming in because I was scared of how they would affect me. No, I don't know what you've gone through, and I don't know if I could even help you overcome that mountain. But, you have a Father in Heaven who knows all about it, and is ready to listen. I simply want your heart to be set free, and for you to walk in freedom because that is the best way to live with Jesus. What is your barrier inside stopping you from -- your developing dreams, your relationship with God?

Let me be honest, you will save yourself a lot of emotional energy if you stop expecting people to deliver every time. Sadly, that is human nature. People will disappoint you, hurt you, and let you down.

Whatever you have been holding on to from this year that has created a barrier in your heart, Jesus wants to mend it today. He wants you to open up your heart to Him and let Him in to knock down the barriers. He wants to love you, and hug you, and just BE THERE for you. He wants you to start dreaming more, start loving fiercely, and start pursuing Him more. He will never cause you to put up a barrier. He will never hurt you. Let's break down the walls, hold hands, and embrace our brokenness together. I don't know why you've put up a barrier around your heart, but I would love to know your real, open heart. Let's walk in this journey together with open hearts, open hands, and let’s see what God has in store.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
