I'm such a fan of boy bands. Come to think of it, I can't remember a time that I wasn't a fan of them. They have a certain appeal, you know? I can't describe it, but their aura is both enlightening and mysterious. And when they sing with their angelic voices, I tend to become addicted to everything that makes them who they are. And the bands who can dance are DEFINITELY hard to find.
The first boy band I got into is One Direction. (Do not say they are dead... they will always come back.) I guess the one thing I noticed about them was their liveliness.
Other boy bands such as The Wanted, 5SOS, Backstreet Boys, and more, missed that aura of joy above their heads. They seemed more cynical of life, writing songs in their albums that were more realistic. But One Direction always seemed to see the positive side of everything. Their music videos demonstrated that no matter how deep you are in an abyss, a small ray of sunlight will poke through. I can't remember any of their songs being sad and depressing, and even though the song "Diana" gave off a melancholy vibe, the lyrics reminded their fans how wonderful they were.
I guess a certain part of it had something to do with their attitude. Boy bands, in general, know how to affect their crowds and how to comfort their fans and engage them. They have the general energy to entertain their fans and never really take their fans' support for granted.
When fans arrive, they encourage the crowd to show themselves. When fans go overboard, they forgive them. When fans attempt to communicate with them, they try their best to understand their situation and give them all the support they need. In other words, they are the angels to our universe. (Us fangirls, I mean. Please don't judge, lol!).
Which is why if any of you haters insult them, we will unleash our fury upon you. (And no, we are not bluffing). Personally, I disengage myself from YouTube drama, Facebook drama, Twitter drama, you get it. But that does not mean I won't stick up for them in a confrontational way.
If anybody insults One Direction, especially Zayn Malik, who personally left the band to pursue his own life goals, I will try to talk some sense into them. Back in that dreadful year when he left the band, there was chaos everywhere as ex-fans of One Direction broke off their connection with him because he had left the band. I felt the need to tell you all that those who left him stranded and called him out were never real fans of him. Real fans are meant to support their idol's dreams, even if they choose to leave the band that made them famous in the first place.
The media is such a scary platform. It twists people's words and paints a clear mask over the bitter reality. But I don't know what's worse, that these bands have to fake their happiness in order to reach out to their fans, or that once they leave the band, rumors start to spread about their commitment to their band in the first place.
When Zayn Malik was targeted on social media, it wasn't apparent to anyone as to why he left. Scuffles between him and his former bandmates struck out, while other sites informed the readers that he was still in the band. Fangirls were going crazy on the internet while others remained calm and waited for the chaos to end.
I had always stood by Zayn Malik's side as he struggled to cope with the prejudice against him as he lost followers on his social media pages. But most importantly, I admired his inner confidence. He knew that the drama would stop and he would be able to pursue what he really wanted.
What is the obsession of boy bands, you wonder? Well, if this article hasn't given you a personal sense of why fangirls love boy bands, maybe get into them and you'll understand what I mean.
The topic of boy bands will always be something that you need experience to actually understand what fangirls are going on about. So, why not listen to some songs by One Direction? Or maybe listen to The Wanted, Backstreet Boys, and maybe even some K-POP?
The goal of it all is to love them, and, hopefully, you can get their love back.
