Four Books Worth The Summer Read

This summer I had found myself being stumped on what to read next. I strongly dislike not knowing what to read next, so I made a list of books that are definitely worth the read, so that others would not be stumped. (Disclaimer: You will find that most of these books do deal with femininity.)

1. "Milk and Honey" by Rupi Kaur

"Milk and Honey" is a poetry book with about four different chapters that deal with different reasonings. The book takes you on a adventure that deals with the very real moments in life. The difficulties of all sorts of pain are discussed. Personally, this book opened up my mind and my heart, and it clarified things for me. As soon as I read this book, I purchased a hard copy because this poetry really spoke to me and it is my number one recommended summer read.

2. "Dear Women," by Michael E. Reid

"Dear Women" is a poetry book which expresses womanhood. In this book, you will find motivation and pride of womanhood. You will also find the light in all the dark experiences women face. This poetry book has no filters of what a woman's life consists of. The essence of love and hope is what makes the book whole. Most importantly it teaches the world on how women deserve to be treated.

3. "Sex Object: A Memoir" by Jessica Valenti

In this memoir, Valenti lets us into her world as an adolescent and young adult in New York City. Her memoir deals with sexism and sexual experiences. It expresses the reality of things and you might find it very raw, therefore uncomfortable to read in some parts. Those things have to be known and understood in order to deal with this reality. The book is definitely worth the read. It did shock me as a reader and I am definitely looking forward into reading more of Valenti's work.

4. "Who Do You Love" by Jennifer Weiner

This novel is about a boy and a girl who find each other over the course of three decades. I know it might sound cliche, but this love story is unique and personally has stuck with me. Personally, I felt like it was extremely well-written and heartfelt, and I found myself not being able to put it down.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
