Seven Of The Best Books To Cuddle Up With This Christmas Break

Finally, we have gotten a break from the heat here in East Carolina, and if you are anything like me, you are craving a cozy day in with some cocoa and easy entertainment. Once finals are over, I know I will want to set up a hot date with a good book. Here are some of my favorites, and some that I plan on reading for the first time!

1. The Scarlet Letter

I read this book in high school and it is definitely my favorite book. This classic is so beautifully written with such an incredible story.

2. The 5th Wave

Wow. I read this book back when the movie was about to come out, and like always, the book was way better than the movie. So, even if you have seen the movie, I definitely recommend the book!

3. The Matched Series

I ready these books in high school, and I was so entertained by the story that I could not put it down. I would love it if they created this into a movie.

4. The Virginian

I have not heard of this book since reading it in high school, but it is absolutely one of the best love stories ever told. I remember gushing about the romance with my best friends during class.

5. Between Shades of Gray

Note: Not the same thing as 50 Shades of Grey. My roommate actually recommended this book since it is her favorite, so I plan on cracking it open during this Christmas break.

6. The Hiding Place

My mom and I read this book together a while ago and, it being a true story, I was hooked.

7. To Kill A Mockingbird

What a classic! You have probably heard of, if not read, this book before, but I think it is a must-read for everyone.

I know that as soon as I finish my last final and drive home, I will be rushing to grab one of these reads with a cup of tea or cocoa. Now, let's all just finish the semester strong so that we can actually enjoy our breaks. Good luck!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
