10 Books That You Absolutely Have To Read While You're Stuck In Quarantine

With another week of quarantine passing by, many people are beginning to feel even more uncertain about when this will ever end. Although many states are finally opening up a few more businesses and beginning to ease restrictions, there are still a lot of stores and schools that are remaining closed. And if you're like me and are running out of things to keep yourself occupied, you may be finding that the days beginning to blur. One way that you can keep yourself busy during this time is reading! There are so many books that are perfect to read while you're in quarantine. Here are 10 books that you can read that are perfect reading material during the pandemic.

1. "The Woman In The Window"

This is one of the most perfect books to read while in quarantine. The book is a thriller about a woman who has agoraphobia (a phobia of going outside) and spends her time watching her neighbors next door. But when she sees something at her neighbor's house that she's not supposed to, she does everything she can to uncover her neighbor's secret.

With a majority of the book discussing the woman's agoraphobia, you can understand how it would be perfect for being quarantined. There are so many twists that you won't see coming. The book is a great, fun, fast read, and it will keep you guessing everything you've ever read or known.

2. "The Shinning"

Of course, "The Shining" is a perfect reading material during this time. With the book revolving around a family being quarantined in a haunted hotel while one family member slowly goes insane, the book is a perfect setting for being quarantined at home. Plus if you like the movie, you'll find that the book is so much better than the film.

3. "If It Bleeds"

If you're a big Stephen King fan, then you've probably heard of his new book that recently was released called "If It Bleeds". The book is a collection of short stories that he wrote, one featuring the same beloved character, Holly Gibney, who is in both "Mr. Mercedes" and "The Outsider". It's gotten promising reviews so far and would make a great horror genre book to read while you're stuck at home.

4. "American Dirt"

This book is surrounded by controversy, especially after Oprah placed the book within her book club. Many people are arguing that the author of the book has purposely changed ethnicity to Latino in order to sell her book, which is about illegal immigrants who are Latino. However, despite the controversy, there are some people who really enjoy the book. If you're like me and want to read the book to see for yourself what the controversy is about or just to see if you enjoy the book, you should definitely spend time reading it.

5. "Warm Bodies"

This is one of my favorite apocalyptic books. The book is a retelling of "Romeo and Juliet" but with zombies. If you enjoyed the movie, then you'll probably love the book. What I love about it is that it's not just a romance novel, but about finding the meaning to life and what it means to be human. The book is also a trilogy, so there are two other books. It's definitely worth checking out.

6. "Station Eleven"

This is actually that book that I am currently reading, and so far it's perfect for anyone who wants a book about pandemics! The book is about a devastating flu pandemic that wipes out a majority of the population. A group of people then travel through settlements, gathering actors and musicians to preserve the remnants of arts from humanity. The book is perfect for anyone that wants to read a book that features a pandemic.

7. "We Were The Lucky Ones"

If you like to read books that are set during World War II, you should check out this book. The story is about a family that is torn apart, ending up in different parts of the world after World War II begins. Each family member does everything they can to survive as the world around them is plunged into war. The book was a New York Times bestseller and reviews say that the book is extremely emotional to read. It's a good book to remind you that this isn't the only time where there has been extreme hardship in the world.

8. "Little Fires Everywhere"

If you're looking for a great thriller to read, you need to check out this book. If you haven't seen the Hulu shows based on the book, the story is about a relationship between two women of two different families that goes from resentment to rage. I loved the show's adaption, but I've heard that the book is better. I was planning on reading the book in a couple of weeks. It's definitely a book that you should read if you love intense thrillers.

9. "Educated"

For anyone that likes memoirs, this book is one of the current non-fiction top bestsellers and has gotten tons of awards. The story is about a seventeen-year-old girl who was born to survivalists in Idaho and has never been in a classroom before. When her brother is able to get himself into college, she embarks on a journey to become educated and get into a college herself. It's a great book for anyone that enjoys memoirs.

10. "The Silent Patient"

If you're looking for a good murder mystery, then you should try reading "The Silent Patient" while in quarantine. It's about an artist who gets murdered, and his wife stops speaking at all after the incident. The book is one of the top bestsellers on Amazon and I've heard it's unpredictable.

If you're looking for a good book to read while you're stuck at home, you should check out any one of the books listed. The pandemic has caused a lot of uncertainty and unrest right now, but reading books is one thing that can not only help you take your mind off of things, but can also help you overcome any uncertainty you're feeling during this time.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
