If you're anything like me, you are constantly going on Pinterest to see what kinds of things you can use to teach certain topics or just to see how other teachers organize and set up their classrooms. However, recently I have been looking into what kind of books I want to have in my classroom library, which brought me to read alouds. I would really like to teach third or fourth grade, so I was looking through popular kids books. Here are some books that I have read or would like to read in my future classroom!

The BFG

The Big Friendly Giant (The BFG) is definitely a classic, so it was a no-brainer to include it! This book, by Roald Dahl, was one of the main reasons why I wanted to become a teacher, especially a third grade one! My third-grade teacher read this book to us over a few weeks and I just remember loving it so much and we got to watch the movie afterward. Oh yeah, I highly recommend this book!

Pippi Longstocking

Personally, I did not enjoy this book. However, I think that students will love going on Pippi's whimsical adventures and seeing how trouble will ensue. You can easily pull lessons out of this book and have them enjoy the story!

Charlotte's Web

How can you resist such a cute story? This book is truly a classic and it would be a crime to leave it out!

Wonder

Such a good book with an amazing story! Not only will the kids enjoy the story, but they will learn an amazing lesson: tolerance and acceptance!

A Wrinkle in Time

Personally, I have not read this book. However, I feel like students will enjoy going on the exploration with the characters! Plus, with the movie coming out not too long ago, they will probably be more engaged!

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Again, I have not read this book yet, but it seems very popular! If you have seen the movie "Hugo," then this is the story behind it!

Pax

Another seemingly popular book! Although I have not read this one yet, it is definitely on my list! It is a book about friendship and life...I may need tissues for this one.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Who doesn't like a good laugh? These books are hilarious and have the right amount of mystery in there for your students! Once you read them one, I am sure they will go back for more!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

I really like these books! I think they show a lot of personality, are pretty funny and will help keep everybody's attention. Your students will be sure to love it because they will be familiar with the movies that came out along with them.

Because of Winn Dixie

Again, who doesn't love a cute animal story? This book is a classic story about a girl and her best friend. I loved it when I was in third grade and I still love it now!

When you're struggling to figure out what to put into your classroom library or what to use as a read aloud, think to yourself "when in doubt, Pinterest it out!" and look for some ideas! This is a list of some classic ones and ones that are always on the "must-read" lists. Who doesn't love to read children's books?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
